Re: What am I doing wrong???

First, I am confused that a bullet falls in the case, and will say impossible....but that is just a guess. BTW, I just reloaded 15 221 fireball cases, thought the brass had been FL sized, filled them w/ a primer and 18.5 grains of Rel 7, and did the same as you, bullets dropped in ( new brass). So I...

Re: Ar 204 ruger with shilen 1 in 9 twist

OK Straight faced Sure, there is more resistance from a faster twist barrel than a slow twist rate, but it is insignificant to the effects of the rearward thrust of the firearm, ie you will never know the difference. Fast twist barrels are slightly slower than a slow twist barrel, but chamber to cha...

Re: Ar 204 ruger with shilen 1 in 9 twist

"I am afraid the 1 in 9 twist will have allot more recoil than a 1 in 12"

Huh? Twist has a perceptable recoil component? Curious where you read or heard that at?

Must be new physics.

Re: Concentricity Gage

I have read some writers say tweaking the poor runout cases is a good thing, to me it is the opposite. They make for good fouler rounds.... Curious if anyone has tested the theory, go ahead and shoot the .003+ runout ammo for group, and also shoot some that you fixed with the tweak tool... same day,...

Re: Primers! Very interesting.

Confused... Are you saying they are looser in the cases, or tighter? I have read many complaining that some new cases after 2 or 3 reloadings won't accept a primer, ie they fall out when trying to reprime the cases... so my though is, you may want to reload one case 3 or 4 times before getting excit...

Re: Who Needs a 26" Barrel?

Rick, I saw that you picked up that vartag. My FIL's friend has a few coopers and his latest is the vartag. Beautiful guns and exceptional shooters, glad you got her. My FIL dislikes the small action scaled for these varmint calibers, guess his blood runs rem 700..lol Any chance the 221fb brass was ...

Re: The 12th Annual Rat Rodeo - 204 Style

Sorry to be late to the show, but great thread Rick. I have shot ground squirrels in my neck of the woods, but have yet to go north ( I am 30 miles south of Sacramento) but my FIL has a few ranches around Surprise valley he has made contact with the ranchers. A good pull for us, but we hope to go ne...

Re: weight of brass

The only way to tell is load both brands the same and see if your gun dislikes the large variation of the Hornady, but most will say the Hornady is crap, from what I have read and it seems you verified. There is a reason the Nosler brass is expensive, and you seem to verify the notion their brass is...

Re: Nosler Explosion Pics

I went to Bonneville to try catching some sturgeon a few months ago, right after this happened. Was lucky enough to go to eat at the diner near Pilot butte ( old drive in diner), then get to SPS just after the guy locked the door, but he let us in to PU the bullets I ordered and some more stuff on i...

Re: Trigger opinions - Jewell or Kepplinger or Timney

I have tried several Timneys and they are a good replacement to a stock rem 700 trigger on a walking rifle, and I use them on big game guns. I have 3 Canjars and like them ( one ruger 77 tang safety, on early rem 700, and a rem 788), but set triggers are no way as good as a Jewell set at 6 or 8 oz, ...

Re: Savage BVSS .204

Free bump, and to say shipping from an individual to an FFL in California is legal, just many FFL's here refuse to do so in an effort to make us buy NEW guns from them. :wall: I have purchase MANY long guns in the last 6 months, once I found a dealer willing to do the transfer. Nice shooter for some...

Re: My latest AR 15

Thanks Charlie. I finally got and fired mine today, A YHM lower, DPMS flat top thick wall upper w/ a Jard that breaks at 39 oz with a little creep. Put an old 223 upper on it just to verify function of the trigger w/o buring a lot of 204 ammo ( which I haven't loaded enough yet). I'll have to look a...
