Re: Cooper 21 204 Ruger load test

i guess if you have to ask how much it cost you can't afford it. it seems to be a secret.

Re: SON OF A GUN

try using h-322 powder and also alliant ar-comp. 25 grains or 26 depending what works best. also rem 7 1/2 primers always works great. fiocchi ammo is good and i neck size only the brass that they use (GFL) and put four rounds into less than a 1/10" with the 39 grain sierra blitz king. true sto...

Re: Check your supply

i live in the kellogg, id area and have given up on the elk hunt-partly because of my age (71) and am no longer able to pack an elk out of some heck hole but partly because of the diminished supply of elk. the wolves have made great inroads into the elk population. there are still elk around but the...

Re: 20 Practicl using CFE223

i have a 20 practical. it was a .204 t/c venture which comes with a 1-10" twist. i have tried a lot of different loads with this gun and am truly amazed how well it shoots. mostly i use h-322, rem 7.5 primers and either 39 grain sierras or 40 v-max. i have had excellent results with h-4198 @ 23...

Re: slowing down a 32gr vmax

i have a couple .204's and have been shooting then for a good number of years. i get the best accuracy from 39 grain sierra's or 32 grain of any stripe. the best powder i have found is either H-322 OR ALLIANT ar-comp. i recently put a 39 grain loaded with 25 grains of H-322 into a 4 shot group at 10...

Re: lets talk powder.....

i have heard comments about reloaders not liking some powders such as 4024, 4198 4831. i have a redding powder measure and if i find that the powders are getting sheared i have found that if i use a very quick stroke of the charging handle that i never have any trouble throwing a charge. sometimes w...

Re: Powder data needed

i have a savage model 12 and recently put four shots into a group that you could hide with the open end of a .30 caliber case. i was using 39 grain sierra and rem. 7 1/2 primers and 25t grains of H-322. outside to outside of this group measured .298". if you deduct the cal. you get .094" i...

Re: What rifle?

i purchased a t/c adventure used from cabelas with the winter camo. after shooting it a few times i realized that the primers were backing out a bit. my gunsmith said that it was probably within factory specs. i asked him if he had ever heard of a .20 practical. he stated that he had built several a...

Re: new here with question about 8208 xbr powder

the absolute best load for my .204 model 12 savage is the 39 grain sierra with 25 grains of h-322. i have used 8208 xbr and i think it also shot pretty good but nothing i have tried is better than the h-322.

Re: Which 1911??

i like a good trigger on an accurate pistol. i bought a springfield range officers model .45 acp. this is a national match pistol with a 2.75 pound trigger. it is extremely accurate pistol and they are sold locally (black sheep of coeur d'alene, idaho) for about $900. it has adjustable sights and i ...

Re: Muzzle velocity from Tikka T3X varmint 23.5"

you might try a load using H-4198 and 32 grain hornady v-max bullets. in my .20 practical using 24.1 grains with a 22" bbl chronographed 4043 fps. this is a .223 case necked down to .204 and very accurate in my t/c venture. this rifle comes from the factory with a 1 in 10 twist rate. in my .204...

Re: What rifle?

The 204R CAN be a great coyote rifle out to 300-350 yards or so. The bullet of choice, however, is the 35 grain Berger MHP and shoots well in 1:12 barrels. As far as I know, you have to load your own, though. The 32 grain V-Max is awesome for rodents but is not a coyote bullet, not even close. Also...

Re: What rifle? .204 thompson/center venturer/ .20 practical

i recently purchased a t/c .204 ruger used and found it seemed to have excessive head space--the primers had backed out a bit. i already have 2 other .204's so i asked my gunsmith if he had ever heard of the 20 practical. he said he had built several and had everything so that it would be a very eas...

Re: brass options

nosler brass cost me $92.00 per 100 a year ago. I could buy 100 loaded rounds of hornady for $80.00 at that time.
