Re: 2018 Going Postal 5 Shot Challenge

I imagine everyone has the best of intentions and high hopes. But a gust, a flinch, nerves, faulty equipment, the ever so prominent “flier” or several of the above can always dash the hopes and dreams of the best of intentions. I like this better because it saves you a ton of work not having to mail...

Re: FFP Reticles

A lot of talk about a fat reticle In ffp scopes. This is a video I took of a coyote at just under 500yards. Not to bad, depending on your idea of long distance. I really love it but that’s just me.🤪

Re: 2018 Going Postal 5 Shot Challenge

2 more attempts. The 4th shot on the 1st target flew far right. The other 4 were nice n tight. The 3rd target was better but the group was more open. No fouling shot.
10 in a row. Bull Barrel on the Tikka Varmint T3 was hardly warm.

Re: 2018 Going Postal 5 Shot Challenge

If you have the right tools, a comparator, you should measure from the bullet ogive so that all your rounds are the same with relation to the rifle throat and start of the lands and grooves. Another thing that might be worth investigating is the dreaded carbon ring build up that occurs after so man...

Re: 2018 Going Postal 5 Shot Challenge

If that was the first shot you could probably chalk it up to the first shot flier on a clean bore. Try a few fouling shots to get that barrel settled in before you shoot for score. If that was a flier in mid string, you might want to try sorting your rounds before firing. Roll the bullets across a ...

Re: Long Range Shooting with the 204

Shot 2 more 3 shot groups at 600yrds this time. Still all factory stuff. Much better results. Time to put up a new target though.

Re: Red Fox with 32gr Vmax

I recently switched from 32gr vmax to 40gr nosler balistic tip (both factor loads). Killed lots of coyotes with 32 vmax and only switched because my rifle seems to like the Nosler 40's better. If the are not tipping over with the 32's ... then it wasn't a great shot. Majority of coyotes just Tip ove...

Re: .204 40gr. Nosler BT vs Hornady 40gr vmax

Thanks. My next goal is video, but shooting a camera and a rifle is tricky. Did it once and even made sure it was in frame when I Shot but when I turned the camera for the last time I hit the stop record button.😞😥. Next time.

Re: .204 40gr. Nosler BT vs Hornady 40gr vmax

I'd say my shot hit bone to make this hole and the close shot didn't help either. I was standing behind a bale and had to step out from behind the bale (bale 20 ft away)-- and did a standing shot with nothing to steady my shot. I'm not very steady free standing. Kinda tricky even at 47yrds.😊

Re: .204 40gr. Nosler BT vs Hornady 40gr vmax

3 more and all fast quick kills. 47yrds,100yrds,137yrds
The single was the 47 yrd shot and got a bit messy bit the other longer shots were great. The bullet just about exited and I was able to weigh it. You can see results in the picture. Still really love these bullets.

Re: Long Range Shooting with the 204

Did some playing at 590yrds. Nothing spectacular, but is fun. I expected it to be much tighter and I'm still not sure I didn't use the wrong line in the scope perhaps a couple times. Gonna try again when I have time and a calm day. Factory T3 Heavy Barrel Varmint .204 Sightron Siii 6-24x50 FFP Facto...
