Re: 10 mm

Mike I now have heavier springs in both my GLOCK 10mm handguns that I carry on the street! I also have the connector installed too, this lightens up the trigger pull to a crisp 3.5 pounds. It does make a difference trust me. :D 8) Now for those that do NOT realize, having your own HANDLOADED AMMO in...

Re: large cal. rifles

Clint E I'll give you my take on your post and toss my 2cents worth into the pot ok! Now of the 3 calibers you mentioned in your post, I would hands down go with the Old Soldier "30-06" caliber because it runs out close to 200 fps faster than the .308 Winchester and can handle those 180 gr...

Re: Low Recoil & Big Distance...?

I have a 6.5/06 that I am sure would be a great choice for a long distance rifle, without excessive recoil to ones shoulder or upper torso area. The rifle is a walking type all purpose around the place gun and really handles the deer better than my 25/06 has over the years. It can double up too on g...

Re: 10 mm

Gentlemen the only problem I have ever had with "self-defense" factory ammo, was the Hornady in the 9mm and .380-auto caliber! We had half a box not go Bang in tghe brand new pistols we were using for a test. It only took Hornady a frigging year to remberse me for the ammo with some regula...

Now that is certainly a great looking bull, especially being on public land. Thanks for those terrific hunting pics too!

Re: Proud new owner of my Savage .204 Ruger!

HeadshotKiller, we too have a couple of those .204-Rugers in the Savage model 12 rifle using Bushnell 3200 series Tactical scopes in the 5 x 15 power with mil-dots, turrets and adj. AO. I can't wait to shoot them and make sure the zero is correct, going to do it today but woke up to snow and sleet a...

Re: A few Missouri Deer from the last 5 seasons.

CalloaJoe, I used to hunt up around Kirksville back in the late 60's & 70's for my bucks! A good friend of mine in Iowa showed me some pictures from his camera's on stand and I have never seen such large bucks live on the hoof before mind you. The smallest I saw was a 12 pointer with bases big a...

Re: .308win 155 g A-Max for hunting Deer?

I once shot a black wildebeast at 275 yards with a .270 winchester and 130 grain cheap bullet, the animal was hit just behind the shoulder with it's heart & lungs turned to mush I learned later. Now that bull circled from the herd and ran over 200 yards before coming to a halt and swaying its he...

Re: Remington 700 VTR Review

I purchased a CZ-model 527 in the Triple Deuce (.222 Rem) caliber last year and it shot great with factory Hornady 50-grn V-Max! I bought the rifle of a friend of mine who with another friend purchased one of those new Remington triangle barrel rifles. Neither of those guys could get those rifles to...

Re: Ruger m77 MKII - thoughts, performance

I got a few of those Savage model 12's but my big rifle for down range shooting is the Ruger model 77 in a bull barrel 25-06.

Re: What rangefinder for 500 yd Vermin ?

I have a couple of those range finders since the year 2000 but honestly the Bushnell back then was not great in cold weather hunting elk in the high country, it ate up batteries like Bass do minnows. Also the rain seemed to bother it for changing modes etc. Then I got a Leupold and it was hoping all...

Re: Your Favorite Crow Load

Racr-350 I shoot the same shotgun as yourself and use #6 shot early in the season backed up with a #5 shot shell using 3-inch shells I load myself. Now once the season wears on I switch to #5's and back that up with a #4 shot. The Remington 870 is the only gun on the market that will in fact pattern...

Re: .257 weatherby or .270WSM

You would be way ahead of the cost factor if you went with a 25-06 for deer season and then varmint/predators you simply drop down to 75 or 87 grain bullets that fly out the barrel at 3400fps easy. Brass is always easy to come by as the 30-06 is no problem to down size for your 1/4 bore caliber. I u...

New Ruger 1/4 Bore!

Well gents I almost forgot about that rifle I purchased at Christmas a year ago, (model 77 Ruger 25-06) now can you imagine that fact? Well it was somewhat hid away at the back of the vault, shadowed by my big bores. The Ruger is a bull barrel with laminated wood (stationary type rifle) that I plann...
