Re: Needing prarie dog hunting recomendations or advice

He is one of those guys that doesnt spend money unless he cant find a way to do without buying/paying for it. Give yourself a few years and you will start thinking the same way....I thought about all the things I would do after I retired, but failed to consider the lack of funds to do them th...

Re: New guy

Even thought I've been reloading handguns for years and have utilized Speer and Hornady's manuals, I picked up a Lee Second Edition Reloading Manual shortly after getting into the bottle neck case rifle ammo and found it really enlightening... Lots of "Why" information as well as the "...

Re: Magazine for AR

My favorites are some Colt 20 rounders...but all of mine (metal) hold 2.26" if I want to push them...slightly shorter rounds seem to be more accurate..

Re: Fun with Helicopters

Rick, I always figured you were quite a bit younger than me, and still may be  , until I saw the picture of your son getting ready to have all that fun... Considering the damage you've done to yourself over the years, sitting on a bench and shooting little targets may be the best therapy... :mr...

Re: 204 short barrel?

For reasonably short range shooting, I don't think you will find much in the way of negative effects relative to trajectory. If you stretch out your distance, that is where I think problems in accuracy will start to show up... I'm basing this on what my upper builder told me several years ago when I...

Re: starting load? want to try 39 SBK x H335

Rather than a kinetic bullet puller, I would strongly suggest a Hornady lever bullet puller... I've broken one of my kinetic pullers trying to separate rifle cartridges...the Hornady is a lot less stressful and IMO, faster...It just requires the proper insert for the caliber.. http://www.hornady.com...

Guard that room until it's full of your "man stuff", or it may turn into a sewing room......seen it happen, very sad thing. So True....We just moved a couple of years ago and have a 4th bedroom in the basement that would have been a great "Man Cave", Gun Room, etc... but the wif...

Re: New guy

There are not "Stupid" questions when it comes to reloading, if you have some basic knowledge of the process...You will find that the .204 is a joy to shoot and can produce laser like trajectories... You don't live that far from me (I'm in Lincoln Co, MO, just across the river) and in the ...

Re: First attempt at 200yrds with my .223, I have some questions

Considering the combination of equipment and ammo, that's an excellent three shot group at 200...Generally, I only rely on five shot groups to make any kind of determination and usually more than that....For instance, this is a 17 shot group out of a brand new AR combination rifle/ammo that I put to...

Re: Walnut Custom AR Stock

I think it a beautiful piece of work as well... Personally, I'm too rough on my ARs for something like that... The closest I've come is various paint schemes, as I can touch them up as needed... putting a gouge or serious nick in something that beautiful would break my heart.. My competition AR: htt...

Blue72Camero, Welcome to the forum...I'm currently living just west of St Louis and understand your desire not to be spending all day on the road to get to Prairie Dogs. You will find that there are few options when it comes to 'short' trips... In Colorado, all PDs are restricted on public land east...

Re: Which Press

I would strongly suggest a Forster Co-Ax as well,,,,especially if you ever have to deal with a 'stuck case'... The case holder jaws on the Forster provide a much better grip on the case than the slide in case holders that can sometimes fit loosely and rip off the cases rim... While not wanting to ge...

Re: hi guys new member needing some info on the 204.

When I had my AR upper built several years ago, the barrel smith indicated that 22" was the minimum barrel length for optimum velocity in the .204, for shooting longer distances...Shorter than 22" will still function accurately until you get out past 250 yards....Most commercial manufactur...

Re: New to .204

My 1/12 shoots 40 & 45gr bullets almost as good as the 39gr... Had the 1/10 been available when I had the upper built(.204 was brand new on commercial market), I would have had the chamber cut for shooting the Berger 50gr, as I think a 1/10 twist should be able to handle the 50s as well... Certa...
