Re: Remington pps

Adam, I have a 700 SPS Tactical with a HS stock and a 20" barrel in .223 and while not your PSS, it is a tack driver.... at least as well as I can shoot it..... mine sports a Burris Black Diamond 8-32x scope that helps my old eyes.... http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j261/OldTurtleFiles/Long%2...

Re: Ar 204 ruger with shilen 1 in 9 twist

Depending on how you had the chamber cut, you may even want to consider some Berger 50gr bullets for the .204... When I had my .204 upper built, that question came up as the builder was wanting to know if I was planning to reload the 50gr... This was several years ago and the 50s had just come out.....

Re: new scope

I have two Sightrons that are my favorites.... one is a 3-12x Duplex and the other is a 4-16x mil dot...They have a great warranty and they are generally in your price range..

Re: AR15 Trigger solutions????

Why would I want a single vs. two-stage It really comes down to the type of shooting you do the most... A single stage seems to work better for precision shooting, as there is little, if any, take up when you are applying pressure... I have single stage triggers in my mostly bench/Prairie Dog rifle...

Re: trouble with consistent reloads

I'm not knocking any other equipment.... You don't indicate what equipment you are using on your bench, so I can only go from my experience... I bought a Forster C0-Ax press and sets of Forster Benchrest dies and have never looked back... I do use some RCBS and Redding neck sizing dies for my bolt a...

Re: scope size recommendations

For a reasonably priced scope that gives great versatility for a .204, I like my Sightron 4-16x Mil-Dot....The reticle allows me to adjust for hold over at longer ranges when shooting Prairie Dogs where there are multiple targets at various ranges....I'm very seldom bothered by mirage at the 16x, wh...

Re: New Acquisition and Question

I just got back from the range,,, Hit it at 7AM... perfect conditions...76* and no wind/breeze...Having changed the scope, it took a few rounds to get it close to my POA... I tried factory Hornady 40gr V-Max with no real success....35gr Bergers were not much better..... My 39gr SBKs gave me my best ...

Re: My handloads stink up the entire West Coast...

Matt, If you can pick up one of the HS used stocks for a decent price, that may be one of the best things you can do for the Remington...I have one on my Remington 700 SPS Tactical (.223) and it's really accurate.... I just acquired a CZ .204 Varmint and it's exhibiting the same traits as you have d...

Re: New Acquisition and Question

I pulled the barrel/action and after adjusting the trigger to get rid of the creep and after travel (I also shut off the set trigger part), I started checking the clearance on the barrel a little closer and found the the stock was applying a lot of pressure at the end of the forearm, but the rest of...

Re: My handloads stink up the entire West Coast...

Matt, sorry for the delay in answering your question.... I trim my brass to 1.838".... I have two Lyman trimmers that have been modified for use with an electric screwdriver... one is adjusted for my .204 brass and the other for my .223 brass, so they stay at the same consistent sizes...rather ...

Re: New Acquisition and Question

I had swabbed out the barrel before I went to the range and got just a little powder residue out of it...but at the range, my best groups were holding just under an inch, with the best loads..... This morning, I soaked the barrel with foam bore cleaner and got quite a bit of copper residue out, brus...

Re: My handloads stink up the entire West Coast...

It is hard to close the action on some of these loads That's usually an indication that your sizing die is not bumping you case shoulder back far enough,,,,Are you setting your sizing die where is has to 'cam over' each time, or are you possibly 'short stroking' the lever on the press?? As far as h...

Re: New Acquisition and Question

Thanks for the replies and information.. I worked up ten different test loads and will be headed to the range in a few minutes to see which one produces the best for me.. Hopefully I can get it done before the temp gets above 90 today (anticipated near 100)... They are forecasting 99, with heat inde...

Re: New Acquisition and Question

Thanks for the replies,,, I have ten different test loads worked up and hopefully will get to the range before the temp hits 100 today... The guy that I got if from said it shot small groups with the lighter weight bullets , so I'm trying the 35gr Bergers in it.,.

New Acquisition and Question

I bought a slightly used CZ 527 American, .204 today and it's pristine...... http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j261/OldTurtleFiles/Long%20Guns/CZ_527_AMERICAN.png My question revolves around bedding... The barrel is not floated and it seems to be in full length contact with the stock... If any one o...
