According to Sweeney's riflesmithing book this is common, not harmful, and will stop of its own accord. That said, I have no personal experience with this happening.

Friends, Up until last year I lived in Southern Oregon, so it was easy to find places to shoot in Klamath and Lake counties, and in Northern California.
