With respect to you both regarding the ethical nature of bow versus rifle, I think the key here is proficiency with whatever weapon you choose, and the fact that arrows kill by virtue of hemorage, and rifles kill by virtue of kinetic energy and tissue disruption....both are lethal if used properly. ...

In regard to the questions on the Leupold chopper: It was built here in Bend, OR around the corner from our shop by my son and our friends at BMC Choppers; "Big Mike's Choppers", Mike and Greg. No, I did not take her out for a spin, no one has yet, the motor is unfired, and will remain so ...

Okay, here it is...sorry for the huge format, but I don't know how to reduce them in size...maybe Glenn will feel pity on all of us and do it for me. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g66/packrat1/PC181336.jpg Yours truly sitting on the almost completed Leupold custom BMC Chopper. All that gold is n...

Scooter's right, the Sinclair tool is indeed one at a time. I shoot high volume too, and once used to using it, the priming goes much faster than you'd imagine. I load for about 10 different varmint calibers in addition to my big game calibers, and use the Simclair tool for all of them now. I'll adm...

Goody: Sure no problem. I'm like you, and have resigned myself to biting the bullet and just pay the piper up front, as I'll end up paying mutiple times if I don't buy the best the first time out of the gate (such experience can be expensive......) I'm not saying this is the panacea of primer pocke...

As the others have noted, the Lee is a very good unit for the money. I used one for over 15 years with perfect success. The RCBS is good too, but for a number of personal reasons, mine did not stay on my bench long. All K&M stuff is good, ditto for their primer seating tool. I especially like th...

See my above post: Excellent inside 250 yards, and that's just for the 17 Mach IV. Guys have been using the 17 Rem on coyotes for many years, very fur friendly.

The 17 Rem, 17/223, and the 17 Terminator extend that range even further.

Re: 17FB / 17 Mach IV.... I built up a 17 Mach IV on an old Sako L461 action, 24" Shelin SS barrel in a McMillian stock with Leupold 6.5-20X scope for ground squirrels. You can see all your hits/misses, zilch recoil, long intervals between cleanings (I go 50 rounds, moly coated), and the littl...

Hutch45: Well, that's what makes this such a great country to live in....we have choices! I hope that new scope works out great for you. (P.S. Out of respect for what you heard, I forwarded this entire thread to the folks in management I know at Leupold. If true, they need to know what's circulatin...

The "rat" is rumor mongering. All my experience is personal, and my most recent experience (good) was last month. Hard to believe that a company that built it's reputation on quality and customer service would suddenly go in the opposite direction regarding their customer service. No insul...

Whoaa there....Leupold NOT honoring their warranty? I smell a rat there buddy. I've got 32 Leupolds, yes, 32. This includes scopes, bino's and spotters. Since I got back to The World in '68, I've been a solid Leupold customer, have sent in many scopes to the factory, and have NEVER had a problem wit...

No, have not hunted anything around there except rock chucks and squirrels, but again, mostly private land. Any area over here around a town of any size has "educated" coyotes, as the newbies try calling on them, and the dogs soon learn to avoid those sounds and say healthy by staying away...

Horse ridge is about 20 miles east of Bend (the large ridge with the prehistoric river canyon & viewpoint). It's all open high desert after that, and great coyote country, all BLM. It won't do much good to ask in the Post/Paulina Valley, as there is only about 4 or 5 owners total, and they get a...

I hunt coyotes all winter out in that area, but be warned that all or most of it is private land. The south border of the Ochocos is of course National Forest, and it is also good for coyotes. Les Schwab owns almost the entire valley, along with the Cold Creek Ranch, and neither take trespassers lig...
