Re: My first homemade AR

Nice build! Thanks for the details and the pics. How did you headspace it? I don't want to speak for the OP, but headspace on an AR is not really adjustable. You get a bolt, a barrel, and headspace gauges. It either headspaces correctly, or it doesn't. If it doesn't, you can try a different bolt. I...

Re: 6mm PPC - Should I or Shouldn't I?

Thanks, TRG. That's the kind of information I am looking for.

Are there any particular difficulties with loading for it, or is it straightforward?

6mm PPC - Should I or Shouldn't I?

I have a line on a Savage in 6mm PPC that the owner claims shoots bugholes. My current varmint/small bore lineup consists of rifles in .22 Hornet, .221 Fireball, and .223 Rem. I'm thinking the 6mm PPC would be good for longer range varminting and paper punching. Does anyone have experience with this...

Re: Advice needed please....

The ammo companies don't use the same canister powders that are available to the hobbyist reloader. You don't have access to the powders that they use.

Scope Recommendation?

I have a CZ 527 American in .221 Fireball and I need a scope. Main use of the rifle is as a walking varminter, for a wide range of furry and feathered targets (p-dogs, sage rats, crows, chucks, coyotes, etc.

What would you recommend?

Re: Contender/Encore?

Thanks, Rick. I am just toying with the idea right now. One of the problems I foresee is dealing with a break open rifle, off a bench, with high volume shooting for prairie dogs or sage rats. Seems like more trouble than it would be worth. Now, as a light, handy walking varminter, it may make a lot ...

Contender/Encore?

I have been intrigued for some time by these guns, and I'm trying to decide if I should try one out. My interest is only in the carbine/rifle models at this time. And my main focus is varmint hunting and plinking. There are tons of factory and wildcat chambered barrels available, and the thought of ...

There is no need for a Dillon case gauge. Just get a Wilson case gauge instead.

Re: CZ 527 American

Well, I did it. Rifle looks great. I mounted an old Simmons 4-12x scope that I had laying around. Wanted to see if there would be any bolt handle clearance issues, and I want to shoot it tomorrow.

CZ 527 American

I just found a CZ 527 American in 221 Fireball. Seems like a perfect walkabout rifle, and a nice companion to my Cooper 221 Fireball. Best part is the price. $450. I have only seen pictures, but assuming it is in as good a shape as it appears, any reason not to pull the trigger on this?

Re: 22 Hornet to 22 K-Hornet

Rick (or anyone else that knows), I am going to admit my ignorance here, as I have no experience with falling block rifles, other than admiring their styling. If I am looking for a rifle to re-barrel, do I have to find a rifle with the correct breech face size like I would in a bolt gun?
