Bill K, shot my 117 hmr long range

Yesterday was cold and very still. Was bored so i got my 17 hmr out. My neighbor worked his field up n left big clods of earth. Perfect for seeing how far it shoots. I used fence posts as a rough distance range figuring they are 12 feet apart. It hit clods with authority at 200 yards shooting winche...

but,no matter what they got hot. some old military rifles were inaccurate, some were tack drivers, lots of the accurate rifles become sniper rifles.

27.5 cfe 223, 26.4 imr 8208 xbr.start little lighter than this n work up slowly. I like cfe 223 and imr 8208 xbr, but that guy there likes other powder. Im glad we are seeing more and better choices for 204r. At the start it was they wont last. Well, choices are growing. Enjoy your new rifle. I got ...

Re: Powder names are getting to an almost confusing point

Darkker,i read that somewhere about cfe 223. Seems like it was a military powder mix 40 years ago. Now its SPARKLING NEW HOT ITEM (cause we told ya so). That you can take to the bank. Some others are the same bs story best thing since 7up was made.

Re: New to reloading

I couldnt get 40 grains to group in my ruger american and my cz 527 either, powder and charge didnt seem to change much.glad i only loaded 5 at a time to test fire.
39 grains really was a game changer.
First 5 i loaded groups did shrink. Play with those 39s you will find the right load.

Re: New to reloading

First off welcome.
Now its trial and error. You have to try lots of loads working up from lowest charge.but keep notes and compare.32 and 35 grain bullets work great in 1 in 12 twist. 39 is pretty good too.best of luck and every rifle has its own sweet spot

Re: .204 40gr. Nosler BT vs Hornady 40gr vmax

000_0009.JPG Thx Bill. The .32 vmax don't come out but my buddy said the noslers did and he had way more runners...Probly just cause he shoots a savage😁😜 Don't understand the runners with the Nosler, Unless he is just not hitting them within his range and in the right spot, chest/lungs or brain. He...
