Re: How thin do you shave your case neck? ( Neck Turning)

I just began neck turning over the winter and after a lot of searches decided that the 0.012" figure for neck thickness came up enough that it was a good number to use. Most of my brass averaged about that anyways so after a lot of trial and error I have my Forster case trimmer tool set up to t...

Re: Wind and Shooting Elevation??

I have had to deal with windy days where I do most of my shooting, (its windy enough that several wind farms are set up here). The bullet that has been my go-to for so long has been the Hornday 32 Grain V-Max so it does not have the greatest ballistics but I had good accuracy and loved the effect on...

Re: Do you use a different load for different distances?

I had hoped for the use my tried an true load using Hornady 32 Grain V-max for shots out to 300 yards and then using my recently developed Sierra 39 Grain SBK load for longer shots or when the wind picks up later in the day as it usually does where I shoot. However I found the POI moved 1.5 MOA to t...

Re: Sage Rat Launching Part III

The babys were the plentiful targets and there as big as a salt shaker Yeah its fun when you find a group that are bunched together and you get multiple kills in one shot, my best was 4 babies poking out a hole at about 65 yards. Aimed for center of the group and then went to see the results, 3 of ...

Re: odd colored coyote

I seen a pair that were exactly as you described, kind of blonde colored, much lighter than anything I have seen before. I had a good look at them from my scope as I was shooting gophers at the time and I seen them in the trees past where I was looking for targets. They were about 500-600 yards away...

First weekend out (some graphic pics :)

I finally got out to do some varminting over this past weekend, it has been a late spring up here and there is still snow in plenty of places in the foothills where I hunt. On Wednesday of this past week they got a foot of snow on the land I hunt on so I was worried but the next 3 days of decent wea...

Re: Primers supplies??

I just got lucky today with a recent arrival of primers at a local store here in Calgary Alberta (Whole Sale Sports) I picked up 2000 of the Federal 205M primers, so with the stock that I already have, I should be good for the summer. Powder has not been a problem yet but I got a little extra today ...

Re: Primer problems solved

Dang, I just threw out 250 of there reloadable items. I guess I will start saving the spent primers now, I have only enough for about the first half of our varminting season and if need be I might give this a try. Either that or one of these days I will be "the guy" who buys up all t...

Re: New to the Forum w/ new rifle in 204 had a blast Sat.

The low recoil of the round is one of my favourite aspects of it. Nothing more entertaining than watching bullet strikes through the scope. Suppose you would be shooting ground hogs in VA??? I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Virginia. Several years ago when traveling with a buddy I cras...

Re: I need some group diagnostic help

All of my previous serious range sessions were plagued by fliers as well, most groups had 3-4 holes under 1/2 MOA and a flier or two that ruined an otherwise impressive group. Just last weekend I did some load development and I have greatly reduced my occurrence of fliers. Here is what I have change...

Re: Monday Flying Lessons (For Skippy)

As always, a great report Rick!! I was out a week ago and got a dozen early risers with my .22 but its snowing right now so our season has yet to get really started. But that leaves me time to refine some of my loads this weekend. :D I also used your BR Pivot as the main idea behind a bench I built ...

Re: Rangefinders

I had been looking for the same thing as you just described but I found from my search that unless you spent upwards of $1000 you would not be able to successfully range find items such as mounds of dirt at any great distance. The type I had been looking at (don't recall what type but the $200-$300 ...

Horizontal POI changes???

Here is something that has me a bit confused, maybe others with more experince can shed some light on it. The previous summers of varmint shooting I have used the Hornaday 32 Grain V-Max bullets exclusively with good results, accuracy is usually around 5/8-3/4 MOA. I hope to take my kill zone beyond...

Re: New Gunowner Fubar

I was at the range yesterday and was talking with a Philippino fella who has a "knowledgeable about guns" buddy load up some shells for his 7mm Rem Mag. Unfortunately it was a 270 that was used, I only heard it from him and the accent was strong but from what I could gather it fired and th...

Re: Savage 12 firing pin bolt face questions?

When I first got mine back in 2005 I asked the same question as you cause my rifle does the same thing, a little bit of flow back in the primer materiel around the firing pin just as you described. I think this is what they call cratering??? After some searching on the net I found that some had a bu...
