Re: You help on brass orginazation-

My system looked a lot like Ricks for a number of years. Have you ever noticed what you want/need is always on the bottom in the middle? Lol. I did some rearranging a few years ago. A local school had a big auction. Buddy bought a huge lot of filing cabinets, 7 pickup loads along with 6 car trailer ...

Re: Shooting bag filler material choices

I refuse to use any kind of grain or seed. It’s not a matter of if you have an issue it is when.

Re: Thoughts on cleaning methods and tumbling media-

I have too much CC media to quit now, bought 100 lbs years ago for like $10. It was clean a d dust free. I use Nufinish and the a cap full or two of mineral spirits. Put the lid on tight an walk away. I usually don’t clean brass unless I have several lots of several k to do. Last batch take the lid ...

Looks like my ex when I came home with a limit of ducks and geese. Or after a late night of fishing, hard to leave when they were biting.

Re: Chasing Accuracy

I don’t really mind the case prep myself. But I have to remind myself what is the task or intended purpose. I made the 221FB cases from 223 and 222. I used all virgin brass. The 222 showed better end results with less neck turning required. My BR case stuff I asked for a no turn neck. After firing I...

Re: New barrel

Oh so we go from a new barrel to duck hunting, lol. I honestly don’t know how I would choose one over the other. I have a passion for both. Never been on a bad prairie dog hunt or a bad duck hunt. I have had a huge amount of enjoyment from both. I skim turned a small lot of 17 Remington brass when i...

Re: New barrel

Skipper, on the BR’s, 6,22 and 20 I have 200 for each. My use for a 204 is not a major paper puncher, I am satisfied with sub MOA groups. It has replaced a fair bit of my 223 shooting. Colony varmint shooting, I hate crawling around looking for a piece of dropped brass. The 204, I will just say I ha...

Re: Winter wonderland

I also dislike heat and humidity. I swear it was not this humid30-40 years ago. Older and fatter now, I can deal with it but at a slower pace. Still make young pups look bad though. We have some negative temps supposed to arrive in the next few days. I hope like heck we don’t have to take the boiler...

Re: New barrel

Preferred barrels etches the caliber and twist. I have been happy with the two I have. But, the etching is anything but subtle, big and loud enough Ray Charles could see it. Wraps all the way around, so no matter where it is indexed it can be seen. I have to do enough work on the 6,22 and 20 BR case...

Re: New barrel

Rick, many thanks for the offer. I will keep it in mind. I have RP, WW and Nosler brass. I will do some measuring as I don’t want to get into a neck turning marathon or have clearance issues. Also I will still shoot factory ammo if I find some priced right. I bought several K of 204 and 223 cheaper ...

New barrel

Help me spend the kids inheritance. Figure I will need a new barrel by next year. Straight up 204 as I have have plenty of supplies to wear one out. 39BK or 40 Vmax as I have a healthy stash. I see little need in wasting 32-34’s as the 20VT will launch them with less heat and powder. Need a Savage p...

Re: 204 Ruger, which factory rifle?

I am another Savage fan. I have swapped numerous barrels on mine. I have used prefit and been happy with them. An easy quick chore for most smiths if your not sure about taking it on yourself. I prefer a heavy rig so I have come to like KRG and Choate stocks/chassis. The empty spots can be used for ...

Re: A simple question for lurkers and active members-

Sixty/60 on the slope to 61. FYI no adult supervision either, which tends to get me in trouble at times  Started off with a 204R, then I ordered a 20BR. I waited a while…….., then ordered a 20VT. The VT arrived way early…..32-34 grain is it. If I go heavier I want to go faster without worry...

Re: Happy new year- 2024

Made a small bit of progress on the 20BR.
I would post a pic of my Christmas present I bought for my self. Don’t know what to do to get the pic up.
Another rabbit hole probably. FX Impact .25. Figure I can get trigger time in the basement pretty easy.
