Re: You help on brass orginazation-

Tom, for a suggestion, consider my method of keeping all loaded ammo and brass in military .50 cal and .30 cal cans and label each one. The pic below shows one stack of my cans, there being four of these stacks in my gun room. Pistol and revolver ammo is separated from hunting and varmint brass and ...

Re: Thoughts on cleaning methods and tumbling media-

Everyone has what they consider to be the hot setup for cleaning their fired brass, myself included. Pretty simple and basic for me, nothing really new or exotic. I've been using Lyman tumbling media now since 1979 in my vibratory dry tumbler. My tumbled (vibe'd) brass looks like new when done. One ...

Re: Shooting bag filler material choices

Rick, who's the poor point man in that picture? Looks like he's in your shooting lane. Well Skipper, it appears you're not familiar with colony rodent shooting in irrigation pivots, so let me clarify.... Imagine a 480 acre crop circle. In the center is the irrigation pump, well and center pivot tha...

Re: Kimber contour Lilja barrel

K22..... your screen name is creating some confusion here and elsewhere. There has been another fellow I'm very familiar with who started using that name on Accurate Shooter, Saubier and other forums over 15 years ago. He's in PA and has recently discovered you using the name "K22" also no...

Re: 204 Ruger, which factory rifle?

Nice stock wood on those two Coopers there, Jimmy! For routine factory stock wood offerings, Cooper was pretty much at the top of the pile during their production period. It's most likely now a thing of the past, as I have zero hope NH will continue what the MT Cooper factory did for so many years. ...

Re: 204 Ruger, which factory rifle?

My hearing, having served in the Navy and worked around jet engines for my entire enlistment, is far from ideal but I do want to help preserve what little I have left. I'm sure adding a suppressor to my rat shooting kit would be a reasonable thing to do. But I'm just not inclined to go that route, ...

Re: 204 Ruger, which factory rifle?

Paul, I'm only commenting on the cadre of Cooper rifle lovers, collectors and owners who feel that anything like barrel threading is considered sacrilegious to a pristine Cooper rifle. But as it's your rifle, it's yours to do as you please with it. We all know the benefits to shooting suppressed, no...

Re: 204 Ruger, which factory rifle?

Once the rifle arrives, I'll take it to my gunsmith for a thorough stem to stern inspection. If it passes muster, the real fun begins... Great news there, Paul! I can almost feel your enthusiasm and excitement from here. It makes guys like us feel like kids again, waiting for Santa to bring that fi...

Re: Shooting bag filler material choices

Well Paul, I can only offer what my experience has taught me over the decades in this regard. My good buddy Don Scott of "Dog-Gone-Good" shooting bags turned me on to poly pellets for his large bulls bag rests. They are light, do not attract any critters, and seem to do a good job of it. H...

Re: Winter wonderland

All seems to be trying to return to 'normal' WX conditions, thankfully. We went from -12* two nights ago, to 34* overnight last night. A nice warming band is coming in from the Pacific, and is moving east to bail all you guys out of the Arctic Zone soon. Right now we have blessed rain and wind melti...

Re: .357 revisited after a long absence.

Rick you gave me an idea for another thread RE: hunting buddys....Cousin Mike and I have killed piles and piles and piles of birds together. The only hunting buddies I have left are my rat shooting crew. All my big game and bird huntin' buddies are in the promised land, all having passed some time ...

Re: .357 revisited after a long absence.

I too just finished up a batch of .357's with my hard cast Keith 173gr SWC's over Unique. Got to keep those Smith's fed with good stuff. For my .38 load, I use a 140gr hard cast Lyman bullet, and for when I do carry my 3" M60 .38 Spl, it's stoked with Hornady 125gr HP's, and two handloaded snak...

Re: Winter wonderland

Rick, that roof looks HEAVY!! Yup it is. Warming up soon, so we might not have to shovel it. But it's been shoveled many times in the past when it gets much worse. We've got two roof layers, and ice dams installed to minimize the overall effects. Been here 50 years, learned a bit in that time.
