Re: New 20 VT rifle in the way!

Bill .....I've been much more fortunate than our friend Joe here, as all my Ruger single shots wear Lupy's, and none have given me any trouble in regard to ring spacing.....maybe I'm just livin' right, dunno: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g66/packrat1/Rifles%20Load%20Dev%202010/DSC_0005_zpsca1d...

Re: Using the Hornady Comparitor

It will be more accurate from the ogive.Your only speed up would be a micrometer seating die.Now each bullet needs to be measured to touch the lands(more tools). Then you'll find that there is ,or could be a big difference in the ogive of a box of bullets,so sorting by ogive (same comparator)is neces...

Re: fire forming brass

The Redding body dies do not size the case body as much as their FL dies,+ bumps the shoulder. No neck sizing. You can run a loaded round into the die to bump the shoulder, without issues. Joe, I believe that's incorrect, in that the Body Die does indeed size the body to the same extent as the F/L siz...

Re: fire forming brass

I have taken virgin 204 brass, prepped it(flash hole primer pocket etc)and if there is enough tention on the neck,I load and shoot them.Trimming ,neck sizing, and other neck prep gets done for the second loading.Like RIO,I only neck size, and bump the shoulder with a body die.when chambering gets a lit...

Re: New 20 VT rifle in the way!

Thanks Rick! That's the exact scope info I was looking for. My 38 is shipping with a Leupold base. Is yours Talley? Would that make a difference in regards to ring height? I'm thinking of getting a Weaver 6.5-20x40 for the #1 because the shop I'm getting the rifle from is selling that scope for 30%...

Re: New 20 VT rifle in the way!

Talked to a Tech at Leupold yesterday, about a backorder, and was told that the NRA is receiving 7000 new memberships a day.I hope it continues.Remember registration leads to consification, and that is what the gun grabbers want. They'll chip away if they need to.

Re: Primer Problems?

First try Remington 71/2 primers, then check Mike Belum's site for info on fireing pin protrusion.Doesn't look like a pressure problem.

Brad @ CRT reported on them late last summer, that they were accurate, and very explosive on Prarie Dogs (32gr tipped).I loaded 1000 rounds ea in 1 204r and my 20AB.Groups were great in both guns.

Re: I did a very bad thing

I just got lucky and was at the right place at the right time. I wouldn't have bought it at full price but when the sales guy said $679 I just couldn't help myself. Is that #1, a K1V ?? I have one and it's a blast.Ruger doesn't offer the SS varmint model in 204.any longer, (WHY?).So if it is the he...

Re: Powder measure help

I certainly wouldn't mind tthrowing light ,and trickling up,for low volume (100rnds)operations,but I just fimished loading 4000 rounds in 3 calibers this past week, and I load with a Lyman DPS3 electronic powder dispensor ,(read "accurate Hi speed trickler).I eliminate as many handling steps as ...
