Re: Tell us about yourself...

Joe O, has been on the site awhiile. For 50 years, the only centerfire rifle I owned is a Sako Forester .243.I always wanted to shoot Gofers, but circumstances and family prevented it.I did allot of Skeet, and trap, and not much rifle, untill last summer when I got the itch back, and rejoined the VHA,and ...

Re: IMR 8208 XBR - Anybody tried it yet?

I'm on backorder for 8lbs.A friend has loaded and tested loads in his 204ruger with great results.Pours very well in most all powder measures. Is smaller than short cut powders, more like a small cube. The Lyman DP 3 electronic measure,I just started using threw 20 loads of Varget at different Grain am...

Re: Super accurate factory 204? Your opinions?

I almost bought a Cooper, but I got hooked by the Savage LRPV.The only company other than custom that has a left port model. If that doesn't work for you,I can submit that it will shoot factory ammo under 1/2"MOA.Mine shot a .333 with Fed 39gr ammo. Most .204s are accurate,it's the other appointm...

Re: Super accurate factory 204? Your opinions?

I bought a Savage LRPV last october in .204ruger after hearing everyone on the sites rave about the performance.I was about to order a Cooper, untill I learned that Savage had the left port, something I wanted for a long time, in a varmit gun.I had issues. They are now fixed.Savage customer service is...

Re: Cooper model 21 or others?

Befor I got an itch for the .204,I wanted my local rifle builder to build me a 243AI,on a Rem 700SA.He couldn't give a time frame short of a year,so I asked ,"what is the best production gun I could buy"? He didn't hesitate to say,"Cooper".I checked out the web site and was impre...

Re: seater die incorrect?

The seating die should be adjusted ,by running the press ram all the way up(no die)(no bullet),then screw the die down untill it hits the crimp onto the mouth of the case, then back it off 1/2-3/4 turn, and lock it down. Now with the lock ring locked onto the die, unscrew the die a turn or two off the p...

Re: Need advice RE: flattened primers and mega-accurate load

I wen't through this primer cratering ordeal, with a new Savage LRPV,which, out of the box, untuned, shot .333 groups with factory ammo.I had three issues, and dealt with customer service with Emails (pictures of primer cratering on Hornady factory ammo)It did the same on all primers. It wasn't a pressure...

Re: Redding bushing help for VarTarg

Might as well go right to the man that established the cartridge.I Talked to Todd yesterday about the very thing your interested in doing.I ordered the book."Terrific Twenties",and the 20 VarTarg will be my next build although,I doubt it will be on a Savage action, for issues I have with Th...

Re: Hornady Lock-N-Load Quick Change Bushing System

I've loaded thousands of rounds on my Hornady LnL Progressive in the past 12 years, but they have all been pistol rounds.I feel that precision rifle rounds can be produced, but a couple extra steps and equipment would be necessary.I would deprime my brass seperatly and uniform/clean the primer pocket....

Re: 204 case trimming preferences

If you have a drill press, you might take a look at the Forster power trimmer.Should go through many cases without much trouble, but I wouldn't go out and buy a drill press unless I needed it for other work first.I use a Wilson for all my trimmimg, and set up a power driver instead of the crank. The Sin...

Check out this site.A bipod you can make, and add a third leg if you want.Would work great with your Dove stool.
