Bullets: Boat tail vs. Flat base???

Hello. I'm trying to educate myself some concerning bullets. The range I'll be speaking of is 100 to 400 yards and my interest is in accuracy. It seems to me at those ranges, actually max being 300 yds., that boat tail bullets are the most accurate in my .204 & in my .224 caliber rifles, flat b...

FS: 243 Lapua Brass & bullets

Hello. I have for sale 196 new 243 Lapua brass, I bought 2 boxes at Midway & had 4 culls. This brass has been Lee neck sized to round mouth> all trimmed to 2.034 with a Wilson carbide trimmer> sonic cleaned> chamfered & deburred. 48 have been primed with Federal GM210M primers, the rest unpr...

Re: Your Best/Favorite Deer Hunting Rifles?

Jim D. I can believe that, as I have taken more than my share of deer, mule tails, with my old tried and true 22-250 and the 60 grain Nosler partition. Shot placement puts them down just fine. In my state it is legal to hunt with any center fire, so it works well. Some states do not allow .224 cali...

Re: Your Best/Favorite Deer Hunting Rifles?

OK. I'm going to let everyone make & have fun of me. I'm used to be called a dumb ba******. I'm not saying this is for everyone or anybody but it is my gun choice for me. In '92 I bought a Remington Classic 220 Swift. I bedded it in a B&C camo stock, lapped the lugs, and later put in a Jewe...

Re: Is there something wrong?

My suggestion would be sell it & get a Cooper. Yes, I'm a smart*** today. But seriously, Fiocchi Extrema shot super good in my Kimber 204 with 32's. I can beat them reloading only a little and I'm speaking of 3 shot sub 1/2 moa at 100. Fiocchi's also shoot good in my custom 204 AR with 1-10 twi...

Re: AR-15 Build

Hello Jim,
Nice article write up & nice looking AR. Is that a Seekins key mod hand guard over a standard low profile gas block? I wish I wasn't a computer dummy, I'd love to post some pictures but have no clue how to even begin. Great job again,

Re: 204 ar options

I just completed a put together 223 and I went with a Rainer Arms lower as suggested by MAGPUL. It consistently shots SMK 77gr bullets under 1/2" at 200 yards. YMMV, Jim[/quote] Jim W, what brand barrel & twist? Do you load the 77's to mag length or single shot? Start a post & tell us a...

Need primer help please!

Hi! Back when things were hard to get, I wound up with several thousand primers, Federal 205MAR, match AR primers supposedly with harder cups. I loaded some for my AR & they shot fine just not as accurate as the 7 1/2 BR Rem. Maybe I just needed to tweek the load but I didn't play with them muc...

Re: Nosler Varmageddon tipped bullets

Thanks guys for the feedback. Rick, nice groups & that bullet sure did a number on that poor critter. A neighbor friend of mine had 400-224-40 gr.,700-224-55 gr., &600-204-32 gr. He said give him $150 & so I did even though it's 100 degrees or over every day & I'm not shooting now. ...

Nosler Varmageddon tipped bullets

Is anyone using the tipped Varmageddon bullets in their 204's or 224's? I was wanting to know mostly what kind of accuracy your getting but also how they perform. Thanks for any information.

Re: Few 204 hunting pics from last season

I'm impressed!!! Really nice pics. Did you encounter any problems with the 35 Berger? Your velocity spreads are great, what powder are you using? Did you shoot any other caliber? I'd love to call in one of those big wolves! Keep up the great work,
