My favorite bullet depends on the quarry I am after. However, I shoot WAAAAY more 39 gr. Sierras than any other bullet and most of those bullets are shot at prairie dogs. The 40 gr. Nosler BT is also one of my favorite bullets too and it is also used in prairie dog towns. The 35 gr. FB HP Berger is ...

Lyn-- I believe Hodgdon's load data is hotter than most of the other bullet/powder manufactuer's loads. I have also read on other boards that the Berger starting data for some calibers might be so low that it could be dangerous. I don't have any personal knowledge that this would be true, but I usu...

Rick in Oregon-- I don't have a high-dollar digital caliper, only a $16.00 Harbor Freight special that does read out to .0000". When I measured the ID of my .226" bushing with very little pressure on the jaws, I got a reading of .2235" on both ends. When I put considerable pressure o...

kirbymagnum-- Yes, install the Redding bushing with the size numbers down. The instructions that come with the Redding Type S - Bushing style neck sizing die tell you how to adjust the seating stem to give you the .003" - .004" of clearance that allow the bushing to self center on your ca...

gwglave-- Thanks for the comeback on my question. I certainly wasn't aware of the bullet you mentioned. If I wasn't getting such good accuracy and action out of my 39 gr. Sierra BlitzKing and 40 gr. Nosler BT loads I would think about buying a couple hundred of those 34 g. FBHP Noslers and testing ...

gwglave-- I would be very interested in finding out where you are getting the 34 gr. FBHP Nosler bullets you mentioned in this quote from your post: Right at the moment, my bullet of choice for sage rats is Nosler 34 FBHP. Typical groups run around 0.4" @ 100 yds well within minute of sage rat...

Rick in Oregon--Are you sure it is the Redding bushings that have the .0005" taper? I thought I read somewhere that it was the Wilson bushings that have the taper and that the Redding bushings have none??? Now you have me confused?!?!?! :? :? :?

skipper-- Read his sentence again-- Wall thickness is still within .0002 after two firings. He didn't say that the neck walls were .0002" thick, he said "Wall thickness is still within .0002 after two firings." That means that the neck walls DO NOT vary more than .0002" in thick...

It looks like you have your rifle dialed in pretty good for those 32 gr. V-Max loads. I think you will probably forget about shooting those 32 grainers, though, when you find a load for the 39 gr. Sierras. They are and awesome bullet and will give you less wind deflection, if wind is a problem where...

Photos of Haydon Arbor Press in a new thread

Vartarg & Skipper-- I don't feel good about posting any more about the arbor press in this thread, so I will start a new thread and name it: Haydon Arbor Press Photos and I'll post photos in that one as soon as I get them PhotoShopped and up in my PhotoBucket account. I'll try to get that done ...

terrance250-- Sorry to be messing up and stealing your thread like this, but if you don't mind, I will answer Skipper's question about my arbor press. I have never used any other arbor press, nor have I ever seen any another arbor press except in photos. The one I have is a Haydon press. It is very...

skipper-- If you read the material available in the Sinclair catalog about using the expander ball with the Type "S" bushing dies, you are told that the expander ball does very little "expanding" and thus supposedly doesn't overwork the brass. When I first started using my Reddi...

terrance250-- Yes, you can use your regular sizing die and measure the loaded round. You don't mention whether you are turning the necks on your casings. The Redding information says that if you are using a Type "S" style die and NOT turning the outside of your caase necks, then you shoul...
