BigBoy--I would be very interested in hearing what your chamber length is so I can compare it to mine. I am also curious as to what your answer is to WrzWaldo's question:
How much bullet you got in the case being .004 off the lands?

Varmonter-- The holdover at 1000 yards with the 35 gr. FB HP Berger is the least of your problems. Wind deflection in a 10 mph side wind would probably require you to shoot at a >=45º angle to where you wanted the bullet to impact   My 35 gr. FB HP Berger load leaves the muzzle at 4,...

jo191145-- Now you have me puzzled. What did you mean by the statement below??? The trick is to Silverfox it a little. Then it really starts to shine. What is this "Silverfox it a little" thing you refer to????? You know I would NEVER advocate anything that is even remotely illegal, immor...

Va varminter-- My Savage 12VLP with the 26" barrel was getting 3,915 fps with 28.5 gr. of Varget and 3,949 fps with 29.0 gr. of Varget. I did tempt fate and shot some test rounds with 29.5 gr. of Varget and got 3,988 fps and with 29.8 gr. the Chrony reading was 4,030 fps. All readings were tak...

dannybracy--I believe your rifle is pillar bedded?? If so, I think I remember reading that Savage rifles with the pillar bedding are supposed to be torqued to 25 inch lbs.

gunut-- To answer your question about which primer is best for use in the .204 Ruger, I would suggest using primers with the thickest cups you can find. The three with the thickest cups are the CCI 450, CCI BR-4, and the Rem 7½. They all have a cup thickness of .0250". The old Federal 200 h...

janneuf-- I thought I ordered it from Midway USA or Midsouth, but I can't find it listed on either of their Web sites. I might have ordered it directly from Birchwood Casey. I have a brand new, unopened 16 oz. container of it sitting in my basement that I probably won't get around to using for a lo...

janneuf-- If you are only going to use white vinegar and water, I strongly urge you to find something to rinse the casings in that will neutralize the vinegar when you are done cleaning them. I believe the 6mmBR article suggested that you don't use JUST white vinegar and water, but also use a drop ...

goody523--Congratulations on the two firsts!!! You used a bullet on that coyote that is near and dear to my heart--35 gr. FB HP Berger!!! When you place the bullet in the right spot, that is a superb coyote bullet.

I don't know if my method is right or wrong, but it works for me. When I am working up a load at the rifle range, I use a mechanical front rest and a rabbit ear rear bag. After I get my load picked out, I shoot off a bench at the range, but I have my bipod as the front rest and still use the rear ba...

What bullet are you using? If it is a handload, do you have any idea what your muzzle velocity might be?

Fatty-- Congratulations on the rifle purchase. Like Rick in Oregon, and no flame intended, I really think you are limiting your ability to make those long-range shots by going with a fixed 10X scope. But then, that's just my opinion. I've been shooting variable powered scopes since the 1970s and, t...

glocknrock-- I have shot 71 of the 32 gr. Sierra BlitzKing bullets at paper using H4198. I searched the Internet and found some loads that, at least in my humble opinion, were WAY OVER WHAT COULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFE LOAD IN MY RIFLE. One load I saw listed was 26.5 gr. of H4198 with a CCI SR Match ...
