Re: A new hope-

Thanks Rick for the further explanation. I knew the original F/B was to aid in boosting FPS, ala R. Weatherby. And I believe I remember the reason for the caution on shooting factory ammunition in the Match Chamber. But now that point is clear up with your comment and I thank you for that. :)

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

If we take not too seriously and just enjoy ourselves we are much better off in the long haul. I will be waiting for skipper to fire up the shoot, give us the target/s to print, etc. then shoot one for entry and sit back and see how others do also, again for fun and peace of mind. :D

Re: lets talk powder.....

I like my Saturn funnels, but when I bought they had none for 17's. May have to order one, but may just stick with the kitchen household funnel I have been used as it fits perfect inside the 17 neck and has been working as such for years now. I like those Saturn funnels. Snowing again today, so may ...

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

I am waitng also TK. In fact yesterday was a little warmer ( 40 degrees) with sunshine, so I ran up to a large gravel pit and places a target with a 1/2 dot or two and played with one 20 and on 17 caliber rifle I will probably shoot with and a couple of my reloads. Felt good and they were all holdin...

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

The upcoming shoot that Skipper is presenting is going to be along the lines he chooses to do, not the majority of the shooters making suggestions and comments. As Skipper said if someone wants to step up and put on, handle, score and work a multi competition with various styles, then step up, prese...

Re: A new hope-

I will go with whatever Skipper comes up with, after all it is his creation. As he said, if someone wants to step up and do it differently, come forth. I for one, will enter and shoot under his regulations and rules and at the target he presents. Win or loose, it will be fun. :D Dumb me, this was su...

Re: A new hope-

TK, most will show a trim length of 1.840 on the 204R. I have read where Hornady in working on the 204R case and throat being long was following Roy Weatherby's idea with his creations, in that it allows for more FPS out of a given chamber. Not sure if that is correct or not. RIO can probably give g...

Re: lets talk powder.....

That well could come to pass. But our Ignorant politician/lawmakers don't have brains enough to think about that. 99 out of a 100 of them can not think beyond their nose.

Re: lets talk powder.....

For sure, just look how the want/wanted to ban bb guns and class them also as firearms. Made companies place red tips on barrels, etc. ( which the dummies never thought criminals flashing those fake guns would just remove so victims thought they were real guns. So the higher grade and caliber rifles...

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

I thought that Ghost Target was a great one. Really made you buckle down. Maybe Skipper will have something along the same line in the upcoming shoot. :D :D

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

Exactly and well said Skipper. We just have to trust each other also, and shoot for fun, more than anything else. The one to beat and top is yourself, as TK mentions.

Re: I had an unwelcome visitor last night...

Over the years and even now around the old cabin up here on the mountain I trap one here and there in a live trap. If I can get a good clear shot at it without getting the critter excited, I will shoot it in the head/brain with the 17HMR. Quick and they usually don't spray. Back when I worked LE in ...

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

Rick it was a very good one. The little dime size bullseye was kind of faded into the body and made it a challenge to see at 100 yrds. But it was the best one yet, as for my opinion. I just wished more that sign on would have shot for score. That part was disappointing, I thought, with all the effor...

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

Was that the target Skipper called "The Ghost Target" ? That was a good one. I thought I shot poorly on it, but was very surprised when Skipper said I won. I thought for sure someone would make a better group than what I did on that one. Just hope when this up coming shoot takes place, a g...

Re: The plunk test

That struck me the same way. I have and have owned Rem 700's for years, even a couple in ADL models and have never had any issues with them, but they are and have been bought from about 20 years back. And remember some very fine sniper rifles, used by well known shooters used them, when they were in...
