Re: *** 2015 Ruger 204um Five Shot Challenge ***

Sorry to hear of your loss...loosing your best friend is nothing easy to deal with. Take the time to heal properly. You have nothing to be sorry for regarding the challenge, it is an extremely small detail, you need to take care of the big things, like your children. We'll be ready for you when you'...

Re: 34gr cheapies!

The Nosler web site has load data for the 34gr hollow points. I've shot many of these, but I have to single load them as my Savage model 12 doesn't like to load them from the magazine.

Re: 204 Midsouth 34grn

Seating the bullets farther out is the next step. I'm not sure how far out I can go without the bullet just coming out of the case. I guess feeding these little prairie dog sleeping pills one at a time would not be all bad...my barrel would have a chance to cool off between shots.

Re: 204 Midsouth 34grn

An update on the feeding problems I'm having feeding the Mid-South/Dog Town bullets. I've seated the bullets all the way down to a case overall length of 2.220" and am still having a problem with the hollow point catching on the face of the chamber. I don't know that I'm all that excited at the...

Re: 270win powder and bullet combo

I use IMR 4895 powder under 130gr Sierra Game King bullets. Accuracy is quite good, approximately minute of angle out to 300 yards when I'm doing my part. I've not had any white tailed deer go any farther than a few yards after being shot. In fact I use IMR 4895 & Sierra Game Kings in all of my ...

Re: Looking for a .30 caliber

I really enjoy shooting my Tika T3 in 308. It's more of a hunting rifle but will hit a 6 inch plate at 600 yards when I do my part. As far as the 308 cartridge goes, it has won many a long range match, it's really versatile and is relatively inexpensive to shoot whether you reload or not. Choose the...

Darkker, thanks for clearing that up, I was misinformed. I'll give it a run.

Re: 204 Midsouth 34grn

Thanks futuretrades. I'm not sure I want to go much deeper than SAMMI specs, but I'll try .001 inch or so deeper. I'm not wanting to increase my case pressure too much.

Re: 204 Midsouth 34grn

Gentlemen, I didn't get these loaded to enter the groups for the challenge. I would have liked to as these little gems produced 1/2" groups a 100 yards. I did however load some for my South Dakota pd hunt in mid June and was pleased with the performance, several dogs fell to these bullets. My p...

Re: South Dakota dog hunt.

Sorry about the link for the photos from our hunt, I haven't figured out how to get the pictures to show up when using Google web albums. https://goo.gl/photos/dHT6NpxTHNZQSDmSA The last photo, was a dog shot with the savage from approximately 250 yards. It took a little time to find what was left o...

Re: South Dakota dog hunt.

The dog hunting was was quite good, although the larger pastures must have been shot in the not too distant past...the dogs were fairly well "educated". One of the pastures we hunted was quite small, about 100 acres, it took the 7 of us over 5 hours to make one "sweep" and still ...

South Dakota dog hunt.

I'm leaving this evening for a few days in the rat patch. Can't wait to get the Savage 204 out & start the flying lessons for skippy. Sounds like the ranches we'll be hunting have a good number of dogs, should be a hoot as we're taking 2 newbies out. I'll let 'yall know how it goes when I return.

Re: 204 Midsouth 34grn

I finally got some Midsouth 34 grain bullets late last week. I'm loading them in new WIN brass on top of CFE223, starting at the minimum load listed on the Nosler web site and incrementing up 0.3 of a grain up to the max load listed. I'm hoping to get these to group well enough so I can shoot the 5 ...
