I've used Burris's C/S a couple of times in the past 5 years that involved ring screws and rings. No problems, they just needed the model #, how many and where to send them.

Silverfox: Nice write up and thanks for sharing. To be honest, thats as good of an adventure as I've ever about in the various hunting magazines. You should consider submitting it.

Thanks again,

Re: BOTH Thumbs Up for Leupold Repair Dept.

Friend Silverfox: Let's just say that is just one of the many reasons there's no optics on any rifle I own that doesn't say "Leupold" on it. A lifetime of quality and excellent service; worth every penny and more. Rick Adding still, something I've learned from my target shooting days (ear...

Re: High velocity readings, and case mouth problems.

Whats; The temp, elevation, muzzle to chrony distance, lighting conditions? I was just load testing the other day and with a slight overcast I was getting 3725 with a 39SBK from my Remington 700 (VLTHSS) with a 26" barrel. The temp was 80 deg, elevation is about 50' above sea level, distance be...

Good advice. I've seen that in the target world. In a spotting all you see is a little puff of smoke...maybe.

Either that, or it gives the otherside a chance to go judge shopping to issue an injunction, just like they did when the ban was lifted in December.

For the AR style shooters...

For the AR shooters; The question regarding 308 target vs. 308 standard loads got me to thinking about a few tricks that were learned years ago that may not be common knowledge today out side of the target shooting world. Sealing the charging handle: One problem discovered early on was that blow bac...

Scope Canting

I came across this link on the subject of web and thought I'd pass it on. It points out what canting a rifle does (which is why i don't like to do it, ever) but the same principals would apply if the rifle scope is ever so crooked and remember it increases as the distance grows and it also does not ...

Re: Remington question

Jim: You may be referring to my good long-time friend and rat shooting buddy, Master Riflesmith Darrell Holland of Holland's Gunsmithing in Powers, Oregon: Rick, He may very well be the one, I'll check with the person who relayed the info to me in the first place and if I get one of his I'll tell h...

Re: looking for a match rifle

Jim, mostly I shoot at the North Central Washington gun club, Wenatchee, WA. Haven't made many matches recently - first due to injuries and the healing up process - then a change to my work schedule. Seems I'm now working most weekends, and unable to shoot most of our local matches. Guy, Roger that...

Re: Remington question

Thanks Gary,

After stopping by Leupold on Friday I think it's just right. I'll still try and comapre the two side-by-side but the Leupold VHR reticle made a darn good impression and besides, on a slow day at work, they're only 15 minutes from work and I can just swing by if need be.

Thanks,

Jim

Re: looking for a match rifle

Hawkeye Joe, The only 5R barrel I'm familiar with is made by Boot's Obermeyer (although others do make them and I'm not sure who made them for Remington). Mine is a 308 1x10 twist on one of my M1A's (the other sports a Kreiger 1x10 twist). This barrel has shot several military style 308 bullets out...
