Re: 204 Ruger, which factory rifle?
Bringing up Cooper, I have one I traded into a few years back, my introduction to 22BR. I forget the model, black fiberglass stock with a Jewel trigger. It shoots fantastic, my complaint is if one was going to shoot any kind of BR stuff with it, opening and closing the action upsets it I. The bags o...

Re: lets talk powder.....
Rick, I have not seen $80 lb VV powder. I just ordered some N150 and it was cheaper than a lot of the other powders. In years past I thought VV powders expensive, by today’s standard it is a bargain and seems more available. LT30 and 32 prices have went way up. I am just pretty PO’d about the availa...

Re: lets talk powder.....
I see a lot of reference to powders that have not been on the shelf or seen for 3-5 years. Not talking about finding NOS either, a gent found an 8lb of H4198 last week, happy for him but does the majority little good. My question is do the VV powders fall into a fast to slow burn rate? I am seriousl...

F472BED3-B8A9-42B5-9C5F-9E079E62F30F.jpeg Photo of the highly evasive “brass hound”. Has been seen in numbers encroaching double digits at times. Seen often in spring and later in early fall. Usually seeking out shiny objects but have been know to retrieve dull and dirty at times. Oddly females of ...

Re: Quiet as a Mouse Around Here
Well I will stir the clear water a bit. How do ya post a picture here? Some formats are easier than others. I am going to going to have some “stuff” dug out and could post some gun porn. Had a little swap meet at the GC last Saturday, may have some stuff someone is interested in or looking for...

Re: Annual Sausage Making
Man I like that big wok. Good use for rake teeth too. I built a big wood fired grill. 3’ across, 1/2 is a big flat iron and the other 1/2 is a grill. I have a local place here that has bulk spices, cost me a 100 dollar bill when I get with in a couple of miles of it. Lots of variations of boudin. I ...

Re: Shooting bag filler material choices
I really like mine easy and quick to set up on some small stands. The height I found as an added bonus as you mention. I tend to steer clear of tall grass for obvious reasons. I don’t know how many transit tripods I have passed by at auctions and yard sales over the years. I have an idea in my head ...

Re: Annual Sausage Making
I process my own. Had a good locker plant, they retired and sold out. The new owners did not impress me. Carried out a whole deer, sausage and all in three plastic bags. Weighed it when I got home, cost me around $5 per pound, that was close to 40 years ago. Breaking a carcass down is not real hard,...

Re: Alter Obsessions
I still fish and hunt, not near as much as I used too. I was a gear head from 16-30ish. I had a lot of cars and trucks. Wish I had my 67 ChevyII back along with my 67SS big block chevelle, one of the first 502 motors around here. Firearms being pretty mechanical alway intrigued me and still do. Shot...

Re: Shooting bag filler material choices
Paul I have one of those tripod benches also. It goes with me every time. I about wore the top plastic out pivoting on the rough aluminum casting, got that fixed with a lathe project. The extra height is good in the taller grass. I bought one of the fold flat stool to sit on when a break was needed....

Re: Thoughts on cleaning methods and tumbling media-
The mineral spirits helps a bunch with cleaning inside with CC media, you have to look close to tell its not virgin. I sometimes tumble longer than normal after decapping and sizing, then have to go back through and check every flash hole and case. I was surprised at how well the CC cleaned the prim...
