Re: Ruger Hawkeye Predator .204 (~$1100) or Savage 110 Predator .204 (~$850)?

I must add, that I am not putting Ruger down. I have and do like Ruger products. But I still like the after market products that are more available to some other brands at this time. But Savage, Remington, Tikka and the 527 CZ's and some others just have the better after market supplies, in my opini...

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

Skipper, one question I have. You mention in your last post ( Any caliber will do) Are we not trying to stay in the smaller one's i.e. 224 and smaller ? Or does it mean any caliber even into the larger one's i.e. any above 224 ? I would like to see it stay at least 224 and smaller. But your choice a...

My main reason is that you have more choices for a pre-fit barrel for the Savage action, if and when you want to obtain a new or different cartridge to put on it. That way you have a DIY avenue to play with, down the road. :)

Re: Chucks

In some areas they will start showing in Feb/March depending on weather and temps. Right now my area is still cold, wet and even snow covered so it may well be into late March before I see any poking their heads out. But I am ready to see some.
Hope you can find some earlier and begin having fun.

You might even check the Savage Axis in 204 R. You would be surprised how well it shoots, for a rifle around $500.00 , but if you want to stick to those two, then I would say go with the savage 110. :)

Yes Rick many came home, many did not. My youngest son made it back from Desert Storm safe and sound. Most of all the Old Guard are resting in peace.

Re: General information re: 204R of mine.

Yes Varmint Shooter, we had some fine times afield prior too you moving to Colo. Both of us have some fine shooting rifles and took a good number of small critters in those pivots and also a decent number of Rock chucks in the lava, always leaving some for seed. Also a few coyotes, called in. Good t...

General information re: 204R of mine.

I have been asked to put some input regarding my methods of loading my ammo and rifle/s that I have used to place in the top three, on the last 3-4 5 on a Dime shoots. I don't think I do must different than most of you do, from what I read on your posts. But here is my manner. First I take at least ...

Re: The plunk test

I can understand Rick to some degree about sticking to the subject and the original reason for the 204R site. However some of the added discussion and comments sure has livened up the site, from a few weeks back to a lot more, even if from a few, to some activity. So I guess it can be like a two edg...

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

I noted that very few have actually said they were on board and waiting for the further date and target and will actually shoot in the upcoming shoot, if it does go to press, sort of saying. I know I will shoot in it, if and when. Win, loose or draw as they say. :)

Re: A new hope-

Thanks Rick for the further explanation. I knew the original F/B was to aid in boosting FPS, ala R. Weatherby. And I believe I remember the reason for the caution on shooting factory ammunition in the Match Chamber. But now that point is clear up with your comment and I thank you for that. :)

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

If we take not too seriously and just enjoy ourselves we are much better off in the long haul. I will be waiting for skipper to fire up the shoot, give us the target/s to print, etc. then shoot one for entry and sit back and see how others do also, again for fun and peace of mind. :D
