Leo: Waldo is correct, in that the plastic tips suffer no problems at all in the process. If the bullets are not tumbled long enough, or if there is not enough WS2 in the mix, the tips do not get covered all the way, and that is an indicator you need more powder or a bit more time in the tumbler.

When done properly, and after the final newspaper polishing is complete, the bullets come out nice and shiny, completely coated. It doesn't take much powder either, I use my son's old baby spoon, and have only about 1/8 of the spoon covered with powder to do 200 bullets. As mentioned previously, my first 4 oz. tub has lasted me ten years!

Having a hard time finding WS2 in quantities of less than a pound. The person Rick provided is no longer selling WS2.

FWIW I use #4 steel shot for plating media with both moly and WS2. Always separately of course, the two are NOT interchangeable. The smaller shot can be sifted much easier from .20cal pills than the ceramic media that came with the kit.

As far as the tips go no damage. I've plated old lead tipped spitzers and the lead tips actually get sharpened instead of peened off as one might expect.

Do you have the same corrosion concerns as you do with Moly? And are there any special barrel cleaning procedures you have to do with WS2?
