free recoil?

Please can somebody explain to me what free-recoil is and also a hard hold shooting position? thanking you. KB

Free recoil is when you use nothing but the trigger finger pad on the rifle when firing from the bench. Shoulder does not contact butt of rifle when shooting. I started shooting this way this fall. I think that this has caused me to "trigger slap" now. Don't know if I like that.
Hard hold to me is a regular hold.

Hi clover_shooter, thanks for enlightening me on that....I've never seen anyone shoot from a bench nor do i know anyone who uses a bench as i've always been a walkabout shooter. Did'nt think i was going to get a reply, people probably thought it was so stoopid a question. LOL thanks again KB.

Like the title says, here's a few articles from a bipod master. It's some good reading. A part two link on reloading is at the bottom of page one. Got this from 6mm BR dot com. The "hard hold" is the only way I can shoot.

When I'm shooting the 22LR or 204 Ruger from a bench I try to keep my shoulder off the stock, even the slightest movement like that caused from breathing can cause enough movement to miss a p-dog a 250 yds on out. Of course with a larger centerfire I keep the stock against the shoulder nice and firm so I don't get a black and blue shoulder.
