Hi Guys,
New to this forum and nearly new to this brilliant calibre. I own a Howa 1500 Varmint and have worked some loads to suit my rifle. Using H4895 and 32gr Sierra Blitzkings, I found that using 27gr of powder works well for me and gives me an average of 3757 fps. Using a 39gr Sierra BK I found that 25.5 gr gave me an average 3536 fps.

First off, Welcome to the site. Looking forward too your input, plenty of folks on here to aid each other, for sure :D As for your loads. If they are accurate in your rifle and hit where you want and give acrobatic lessons to critters, then enjoy and have at it. Bill K :)

Further to my post a few months back, I have reloaded some 39gr SBK's with 25.5 of H4895 and got an average of 3536 fps. I've shot a few Foxes with it, ranging from 80 -170 yards, and it sure knocks them over. Now that our winter is almost upon us here in the UK, I'm going to bait an area and hopefully get some Crows & Magpies, which I hate with a passion.

My Savages like 26 grains of H4895 on 39 grain Blitzkings as they give me the best accuracy. That is 1 1/2 grains under max load but missing really fast does nothing for me. Welcome to the site, great bunch of people here. Pictures, we like pictures especially if not in the US. I like to see how other places varmint hunt. :stickman: :stickman: :stickman:

I have a Howa 1500 Varminter also. If you are happy with those velocities, and velocity is what you really want in that 1500, then all is good. Personally I would rather hit my target at 3500 fps, than miss my target at 4200 fps or maybe 4400fps :chin:. The most accurate load in my 1500 is with RE10x and a 39grSBK, w/ Remington 7 1/2 primers. It will shoot in .3's all day long. But my velocity is only around 3700fps. My kill ratio on our Belding squirrels is around 85% or better if the wind is not blowing. Average range of most of my targets is between 200 and 350 yards, and a lot of kills out to 350 to 400 yards, when I challenge my ability. Our Belding squirrels are about the size of a beer can, a lot smaller than a fox.
Just my thoughts, and worth every penny anyone would be willing to pay for them!

I'll try and get a few of my 'kills' on asap. How do I put photo's on here? I can't see a link where I can attach one.

To post pictures, go to the general forum in the Board index. The 2nd entry explains how to post pictures. Nobody here is offended by red mist photos so do not worry about that. Looking forward to your posts, welcome.

When you hit "reply, above is a button that says "Img".
When you click it, you will see this appear in your reply:
"[ img] [ /img]" in between them is where you insert the link to where you have them stored.
So, I use photobucket, and would copy the "direct link address" in photobucket, and paste it in-between the IMG parts.

I vote for posting magpie destruction, REALLY hate those devils.

my savage liked 27.7 for 3868mv & depth of 2.000 for .021 groups. went out 5/5/19 to shoot PD's also took steel & set it 355 yds to verify load/scope at distance. made Strelok adjustments then had fun, couple 400+ kills, most were 175-350. no young out yet.
