Mike

I shot a .3gn increment Audette ladder with Viht 160. I was hoping the Viht and Berger combo would result in zero or less coppering just like in my 204. Nothing doing. Copper is probably worse than with the Win 760 load I quickly threw together. The Viht burns real clean in the 6.5.

The test results still look promising.
Loads 2 (46.2) through 6 (47.4) grouped .715 at 200 yds. Load # 4 was the spoiler in that group.
Loads 2,3,5 and 6 grouped .470
Everything past #7 went haywire in a familiar fashion. Every other shot was a low flyer while the next formed a fairly tight group. Saw the same exact thing with the Win 760 ladder  At this point I'm blaming it on copper. This tube just don't wanna shoot fast at least not yet.

Even though loads 2 (2768fps) through 6 (2816fps) were at the bottom of the ladder they're actually around max in the Viht data. N-165 would be faster.
I loaded the ladder with the recommendation on 6mmbr.coms web page for N-160. 47.0-50.0gns is what the pros are pushing. Saw no signs of danger during the test. Stopped at 49.8 (2924fps)

When I get the time I'll find out if it can maintain or improve on that accuracy for sustained fire or if it coppers out.
3.236 col puts me .010 into the lands.
Now that I got all the stoney point accouterments for the 6.5 I found out the W-760 /140 Nosler load I used at the egg shoot was .035 jammed :o No complaints about its accuracy though.

I would like to try H-1000 or R-22

Good Luck to You.

A well respected 3 position shooter at my club told me to start with H1000 or RL22. I didn't listen  . I'm still not happy with the way mine shoots. I'm thinking I might go back to my OAL 3.010. (.190 off the lands.) My best targets came from that load with the 140 VLD's.
