You'll want the SII Big Sky, not the plain old SII; big difference in glass quality (and price, unfortunately). As far as the regular SII: there a other scopes as good or better in its price range. I have the Big Sky in 4-16X and can vouch for its clarity and adjustability. One of the "brightest" scopes I own. Almost the equal of my Leopold 6-18X VX2, although not as nicely finished and resale value less. A bit overpriced, swfa.com might have some on their discount Sample List; on rare occasions Sighton sells excess stock for half list price or less through some dealers like swfa. If I were buying another Big Sky, I'd spend the few extra bucks for the 6-24X, and turn it down if need to.

KLR-- What are your terrain conditions you will be calling. If it's open then more power would be nice. If it's mostly wooded then the ability to go down to around 3x or 4x would be great. I have a 6-18 on my 204 but I use it for groundhogs as well as coyotes. My Marlin 357M has a 3x-9x on it & I find I like it better for calling with the 3x. Sometimes you need more field of view for calling since they are either moving or in thicker cover.

I prefer the Swift Premier scopes.

Equal to or better in similar price range: Weaver V-Series or Grand Slam; Vortex Viper; newest Nikon Monarch, or Buckmaster (Midway USA has a 6-18X on sale now, I believe); Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 4.5-14X ...
Didn't mean to imply the SII is a bad scope; all Sightons seem to track accurately. It's glass just isn't the equal of the Big Sky.

I'd compare them like this:
Sightron SI = Leupold VX1
Sightron SII = Leupold VXII
Sightron SII Big Sky = Leupold VX2
Sightron SIII = Leupold VX3

Before choosing, I'd check out the Sightron warranty compared to Leupold's......just sayin'...... :chin: (It sure is nice to have the factory here in the USA to be able to send the product in for warranty, repairs or mods.)
