Leupold Vari-Xiii6.5-20 value

What is an older Leupold vari-xiii 6.5-20x40 with the duplex reticle worth? My neighbor has one he wants to sell and I was either considering help him sell it or buying it off him. I would say the scope is from the 90’s? It says Leupold in the tube it’s nit the gold plated Leupold like now. Also can’t remember if it’s the adjustable objective or if it’s fixed

If it's a VX3, it has side focus for parallax and not an AO.

For determining a value, check out SWFA in Desoto TX, as they sell used/demo/new Leupold's. See what the new version is going for to get a 'new' baseline. Ebay also. No more VX3's, so you'll have to extrapolate new/used price. Probably around $500~ or thereabouts.

Okay then, it is NOT a VX3 as you originally listed, but a VX-III. BIG difference there, buddy. As such, the value would be much lower, say around the $400~ mark or a bit higher.

All AO scopes sell for less than their side-focus brethren. Your scope is also most likely a 1" dia. tube vs. the 30mm tube of the VX3.
