I shot a 7mm magnum a great deal when I was in my 20's, and yes I shot squirrels with it. It was my one and only centerfire rifle. I came to conclude that the noise of the muzzle blast was much worst than the recoil. Thus, the mag. went down the road and I shot a 270 from that point on.

I think that muzzle breaks are detrimental to good shooting because of the excess noise and the resulting flinch. It took me over a year to overcome the flinch even by just shooting a 22 LR. Your results could be very different.

janneuf, If you don't mind ugly, and live in a sensible state, why not try a moderator. They greatly reduce the noise AND the recoil. just my 10 pen'orth.Ken. :eek: :)
