Hi Everyone

Firstly, a big thank you to all who gave me assurance about using 155g A-Max's for hunting.
I know that it's NOT a hunting round, but after hearing some good reports of how well the round performed, I too am now a subscriber...I have the head to prove it

I flew up to the highlands on Tuesday the 6th and got my Stag on the Wednesday.

Stalking was hard, about 6 1/2 to 7 hours and I must have crawled for 500 - 600 yards through out the course of the hunt....I was f***** by the end of it!

I was originally after a much larger Stag, 10 or 11 points but he just didn't present a shot so I went for this 8 pointer instead due to the light fading rapidly.

Shot was from above him at around 200 yards and the shot pierced the last of his ribs on his left side (the Stag was nearly broad side, head to the left but facing slightly away from me down hill) and the round went through both lungs, exiting low just in front of the front leg on the right side.

When Gralloching the carcass, we could see that the A-Max jacket exploded on entry, (the Ghillie said it looked more like an exit wound), showering small shards within the rib cage but the core just continued on it's path and left a grape-sized exit.

The Stag ran for about 40 yards then flopped over stone dead.

Anyway, pics. Sorry for the low-rez but it was on a camera phone.

Never seen a Rainbow like this. You could see the beginning and end . Amazing!

That open country reminds me of some of the land here in Central Washington.

Congratulations on your Red Stag! Nicely done!
