Deer will almost always run a bit after being shot with an arrow. Sometimes they run 50 yards and sometimes they run several hundred yards, so I can't really say there's a specific answer to the distance that they go. At times, I've known people to go and get a dog to help them recover a deer but that's not the norm. Usually hunters either see the deer go down or follow the blood trail to recover the deer.
