Jim D. I can believe that, as I have taken more than my share of deer, mule tails, with my old tried and true 22-250 and the 60 grain Nosler partition. Shot placement puts them down just fine. In my state it is legal to hunt with any center fire, so it works well. Some states do not allow .224 caliber for big game. Bill K :)

Thanks Bill. That 22-250 is a fine caliber in it's own right. Years ago I bought several hundred 55 grain .224 Trophy Bonded Bear Claw bullets & they worked very well for me in my Swifts. I do like the Nosler also. Have a good day buddy,
Jim D

varmint-master,+++1 on that 65 grain Sierra bullet. I shoot that in my 1-9 twist Rem. mil-spec & it's awesome. You don't here much about them but the 60 & 64 grain Berger is baaaad medicine for deer size animals also. What AR did you get?

My favorite General-purpose rifle is my Ruger Hawkeye Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. Here are 5 shots, starting from cold this past week. 2 shots touching, then an aiming adjustment (couldn't see my own drawn 'crosshair,' so I was holding edges on reticle marks), then 3 in one hole.

My favorite hunting rifles are the American line by Ruger.
Mainly I use my 7mm-08 All-Weather with Vortex 4-12x44 scope and shoot very light-for-caliber 120gr Hornady SST factory loads.
My American Predator 6.5 Creedmoor is another one I use.

I'm sold on the light and steady TC contender. My favorite barrel for whitetail is the 6.5 Grendel.
But shown here wearing a .308 Bellm barrel which is just as effective.
