Out practicing and shooting for fun with the boy today. On the way home we happened upon this unlucky/willing victim. I asked him if he gets why I like cruisin' the prairie roads looking for them...yep, I do now dad. .17hmr is favorite so far but he does like .204 and .223.

Great SecretCode, getting the son out and his learning why we do roam the areas we have and looking for those critters and the sights you can see and enjoy.
Great way for him to start out also, that 17 HMR is one fine shooting rimfire. I know I use mine pretty often for a lot of shots under 150 yrd.
Thank for sharing the story and photo's. Bill K
( Side note. enjoy going out with your son. They grow up to fast and move on so quickly. Don't ask how I know..)
Start 'em out young, and they're good for life with a hobby they'll enjoy with friends and family into adulthood. The smile on that young man's face tells it all.
Good dad!

Thanks guys. He and his Sister are growing up too fast. We kinda give him and his sister cart blanche to choose what they want to do for either school or private activities. He wanted to try intro to air pistol this fall. Last Monday night was his first class and he loved it. Wouldn't and probably couldn't shut up about on the ride home. This coming Monday is the next class and it will be fun for sure.
Kind of slow the last day or so, so I will put this up for your entertainment. When the critters slow down, for various reasons, there is always a way to have fun on small one's and bug some others.
(Hope you can make out the small critters and the wording)
Well it appears we need some input to keep this place alive. So with that in mind and our rock chucks and ground squirrels now taking their annual nap, attention has turned to shooting jackwabbits in the junipers and sage. Taking running shots with a nice modified 10-22 is beaucoup fun and keeps a guy sharp at the same time.
So now in the Summer Doldrums, what's everyone else doing with their rifles? I know Skipper is hot after those fast flying teals down in TX, but what's everyone else up to? Anyone? Anyone? Bhueller?
