2019 Squirrel Roundup

Post by brooksb »

I went up with wife the Wed before and shot Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, and a couple hrs this morning. The WX was great, but many acres of most all farms had been tilled which isn't very good for shooters, so it was crowded. I had good numbers Thursday, Fri/Sat not so good, Sunday was good even though my field had been shot up pretty good, and this morning was off to a great start, but we had to leave. Besides the tilling more farmers are poisoning and there are land owners who aren't allowing shooters, apparently some of us aren't being good Ambassadors of the sport, so this year they only sold 80 seats at the dinner. So I had a great time, converted 250 .204 rounds into noise and about the same in .17's.

Even if slower and all, a good day out shooting is well worth it. At least the weather is beginning to warm and more will be coming out to play. Sad that it is often the fault of the shooters themselves, by bad conduct that shuts areas out. Bill K :)

Launching a rat at 250 yrds is so addictive, it keeps me looking for the next launch. Fri, Sat we're the only below par days and that's when I just use the 204 and don't even look much closer than 200, slow but hits are oh so satisfying.

You mean like this?

There's nothing quite like teaching ground squirrels to fly. "Skippy The Flying Squirrel" got his name exactly that way way back in 1995. Only bummer is he only gets to fly once. ;)

Rick. I think many of us are just following the example by the one major commercial air service. " The only way to fly, United" However we have changed the slogan to " The only way to fly, Dis-united" :D Bill K :)
