Gopher Shootin’ 2024

Been out shooting gophers 5 times now. Told landowner/friend to let me know when started seeing activity. Got on them early this year.
First couple of times was great shooting with plenty of targets to give “flying lessons “ to. Last 3 times definitely less targets and I may need to find another place to give flying lessons.
The pastures have really short grass so it is easy to spot the critters either stationary or running.
Most shots have been between 40 to 218 yards with one unlucky fella at 317 yards. The story of the gopher in the rock pile is this. The previous 4 times I have been out there shooting I kept seeing this one gopher out of the pasture standing at the top of this rock pile, about 3 feet high. I glassed him numerous times but he was always a little too far out of my comfortable range. Today I was shooting and all of sudden I see this one “shagging butt” out of the pasture and towards the rock pile.
I waited about 30 seconds and lo and behold this dumbass is at the top of the rock pile. Bad decision, 177 yards and a high backflip and he is done!
Hope to get out a few more times to take care of the stragglers.
