MI coyote

Post by furhntr »

Here is a pic of the coyote I shot yesterday afternoon with my rem 204 with a 40gr ballistic tip. I shot him a little far back and blew his intestines out the bottom of him(not pretty)Image

.......but still very dead. It happens sometimes to all of us. Congratulations on your coyote.
Enjoy it while you have it, because things will change.

Reminds me of a coyote I shot with my 270 and a 90 grain hollow point. The closer I got to it the more fur / blood / guts I could see in the blackberry bushes behind him.

WrzWaldo,

I know what you mean with that .270. About 8 or 9 years ago I went out one day in March just to get out and also to start seeing where turkeys were roosting. There were about 12 to 15 turkeys on the ground about 180 yards out doing their thing when a coyote came charging out of the brush and almost got one. He then stopped to look back at the others and I dropped it with my .270 shooting a 90 gr. HP. It knocked him back about 6 ' and dumped his guts all over the ground. Only the spine held it together.
Enjoy it while you have it, because things will change.

He was shot just west of k-zoo, weighed 46lbs. I shot another one yesterday with the 204 at 75yds looking right at me, shot hit her center of the briscuit, she dropped like a toilet seat so I started looking for another one and she got up a started running. only went about 30yds and expired. I have yet to have a bang flop with my 204, but never the less they have both died without tracking....

The yote in the picture the bullet did exit and left a hole the size of a softball. The second yote the 40gr didn't exit. I couldn't believe the second yote got up.....

furhtnr,

Congratulations on a very nice coyote.
I shot my first one this year a couple weeks back with my M700 VLS 22-250 using a Nosler 50 gr BT. The bullet didn't exit.
I called him in with my Foxpro 416B w/ remote.

Glen,

Thanks for the welcome.

Actually, not too far from the driveway, about 400 yds away. ;)
