update on Idaho Varmint Hunters whistle pig tournament

Post by broper »

We have cancelled the tournament because Idaho F & G has not kept their word to us. They were supposed to send a letter stating that it is ok to shoot them. We have never received it. We wanted to be assured that it was legal to shoot them and that agents weren't going to be in the field or at the check in harassing everybody and cheking for protected squirrels. The fine for shoot a protected squirrel is $1,000 and confiscation of your gun. We didn't want anybody getting in trouble so we cancelled the tournament. We were told that they could be shot south of I-84 but no official written word.

Yes, it does. We have a badger tournament in June, I hope they don't become endangered by then.
