I've found that the 39 Sierra (28 grains Varget) is fiendishly accurate in my Savage FCV. Have not tried it on living things yet, but I'm committed to this load and busily loading up for this spring's ground squirrel safari.

3 more and all fast quick kills. 47yrds,100yrds,137yrds
The single was the 47 yrd shot and got a bit messy bit the other longer shots were great. The bullet just about exited and I was able to weigh it. You can see results in the picture. Still really love these bullets.

I'd say my shot hit bone to make this hole and the close shot didn't help either. I was standing behind a bale and had to step out from behind the bale (bale 20 ft away)-- and did a standing shot with nothing to steady my shot. I'm not very steady free standing. Kinda tricky even at 47yrds.😊

Thanks. My next goal is video, but shooting a camera and a rifle is tricky. Did it once and even made sure it was in frame when I Shot but when I turned the camera for the last time I hit the stop record button.😞😥. Next time.

Don't understand the runners with the Nosler, Unless he is just not hitting them within his range and in the right spot, chest/lungs or brain. Here is just one example of my CZ American in 17hmr, when you hit them within range and in the right spot. Know this is not a 204R, but it shows what any round can do when placed properly. Bill K :)
hey bill k.i got a savage 93r wood stock, bull barrel with a tuned trigger id trade ya for that cz.my 93 is dead on accurate.havent shot a yote yet but 5 crows at 200 give or take yards n 2 starlings at my calf feeder.
Just kiddin i like my savage.but its impressive what that lil 17 hmr is capable of
