First 4 shots beautiful. I touched the set trigger and touched off #5 before I was ready..... oh well!

The best part about this rifle is it’s easy to shoot. The worst part is I can’t find locally a .20 cal rod and jag... using a bore snake for now. Every few shots. I know the copper is going to build up.

I use a .17 rod. Proshot builds them as well as .20 brushes and jags.proshot rods have bearings in the handles too

Pro Shot and also Tipton make good .17 and .20 cal rods, jags, mops and all. Bill K

Love those rifles. My Kevlar does just a hair bigger with Reloader 10/39 SBKs. Might try some 4895 next. Thanks.

Do yourself a favor, and seeing as your local stores don't carry good stuff for serious shooters, order a Dewey .20 cal rod from Sinclair International. In stock, fast shipping, and their catalog is full of great accuracy technical tips which will come after your first order. Be sure to order a bore guide too; you don't want to ruin the accuracy of that great shooting little CZ.

Forget that bore snake....only good for quick field cleans, NOT for a serious barrel cleaning session.

They also offer neat cleaning rod cases in single and double configuration. I've been using mine for about 20 years now......good stuff.

Thank you Rick!!! Now that’s awesome advice! My cuz is as close to perfect as I can see it! The only down side is the magazine is Terrible. Any more than 3 rounds in it and it gouges the brass badly. I’ve filed and polished the feed lips and it helped, and usually just single load not using the magazine. CZ states this is safe in this rifle so. I am eagerly awaiting a range day when my local range has the 500 yard range open. Going to play with gongs and such to see what kind of accuracy I can get.

Also, my powder charge is over maximum published data with very slight primer cratering. One finger bolt lifting and extraction. If you do some reading here and elsewhere you will see many people using the load I’m using. I certainly wouldn’t go any higher, and will work up to this load in hotter temperatures. It was 50 degrees or so the day I shot this. I’d be wary of shooting this load in 85 degree heat.

My cz was cutting the first 2 cartridges bad.i ended up filing with jewlers file,then a small tube pad on my dremmel with flitz.now it just leaves 2 fine lines on each 1 you barley see.i used a birchwoodd casey touchup pen and hid my work

The magazine springs in the CZ .204s are awfully stiff also, the force from them not only contributes to case galling but also causes feeding jams. I stoned the feed lips and also kept the mags loaded when not in use to reduce the spring tension; both problems were solved (springs will only reset like this when fairly new).

I'm near Geezerhood and been reloading since the 60's. Over the years ya hear about a magic powder or bullet for a specific round and ya eventually come to believe that there are no magic bullets or powders , they like what they like.
I drifted along for a lotta years with my cynical view of components and all was well until quite a few years after getting into sub .22 caliber wildcats the .204 Ruger came out and not long after that CZ produced the .204 Varmint Kevlar with the HS Precision stock and I purchased one. At that time Hornady was the biggest game in town with .20 cal projectiles with the 33 grain original V-Max doing well in most .20's and then for some reason they came out with the .204 and changed the 33 grainer to a 32 grainer that also shoots well. Also, along came Sierra with the 32 and 39 grainers. Hornady's 40 grainer had some degree or other of accuracy issues in a lot of 1 in 12 twist .204's for some reason but that 39 grain BlitzKing seemed destined to ruin my cynical view of magic bullets , almost everybody's .204 Ruger seemed to dote on that bullet, I know mine does!
Being a tinkerer I decided I wanted to be able to touch the lands and still fit in the magazine so with my rifle being a 1/2 inch-ish gun out of the box I sent it to Greg Tannel and had him set the barrel back a bit and re-chamber a minimum spec match chamber with a snug neck and zero free-bore into my factory barrel. I can now get 32's or 39's either one to have good purchase in the neck, touch the lands and still fit in the magazine.
Downside is it's now a wildcat so factory ammo and factory load data goes out the window but the accuracy is a bit better even yet and I get full on velocities with less than book charges of powder. The best load of all is RL10X under a 39 Sierra BlitzKing in WW cases with 7 1/2BR primers at a titch under 3,900FPS. Way long, sorry! I just dropped by, read the thread and realized I need to bust my .204 out. What a dandy they are!

You nailed that one Montdoug. And even better would go with a 1/11 twist, don't know why but it is just a tad better than the 1/12, which will work. Bill K

Bill all my .20's built since that time have gotten 1 in 11 twist Pac-Nor 3 groove's for barrels. With the 1 in 11 the 40 grain Hornady shoots real well and costs less then the BlitzKing too. I wish that had been the standardized twist for the .204 from the start. As you know ya always pick the twist with the heaviest bullet you're gonna shoot in mind and they still shoot the lighter bullets just fine. I've learned not to trust "hard and fast" rules to much but that twist deal has always worked out for me so far.

Jesus you guys have me on the hunt for one of these rifles now!
