Guy's I'm getting (Hoping by Tues.) a DPMS LR-204 Upper. It has 1-12 twist. I do not reload at the present time. What type of Factory loadings should I look into. OR....is it the old search for the best slug for your shotgun and buy a bunch of boxes of diff. loadings?

Thank you for all your help,

Greg

I am wondering where the info about 40grs not liking 1-12 twist barrels comes from?? I have shot them on paper with all 3 of my 1-12 twist barrels and all 3 shoot a ragged hole at 100 yrds! The 39 gr do the same!!! Just wondering??

You just have too see what your rifle will do with them. Some will shoot the 40 grainers just fine, others will not. And for some reason, those that will not handle the 40 grain, will shoot bug holes with the 39, especially if it is the Sierra 39 gr BK. You just don't know for sure, until you try them in your rifle. Bill K

You know bill k ,its too bad we cant buy a test pack of ammo. Like 3 or 5 rounds of every factory made ammo for a caliber.but that probably be costly

Some do sell test packs. Midway USA, I believe do show some and also Midsouth Shooters. Not in all the brands but some. And there are always the fellow members on our sites, who often will offer, give or at the least ask for shipping costs, to send a person a few to test.
It never hurts too ask. You might be pleasantly surprised how many will help out, with a sample. Bill K

i used fiocchi .204 in 40 grain bullets that shot really well and i think they have some of the best brass out there. i paid just shy of $30.00 for a 50 round box. the .223 was about $25.00 for 50 rounds
