Today I received a New Member Activation Request from someone that had selected their actual email address as their choice for a board registered username. You might want to rethink that decision. If I were to activate that account, as submitted, you might be targeted and subject to untold spammers and hacker attacks. It might be best to select another board name and try again. Thanks.

Neither is anywhere outside your own property.

Last year we had a mass shooting at our local Safeway, a mere few blocks from home, two dead from some young fool with his......you guessed it, his new AR.

I'm not a paranoid kinda guy (just "prepared"), but for the last 25 years or so, I never leave the house without one of my Kimber 1911's on me.....9mm or .45, depends on my mood that day, but one is always on me. I refuse to be food for predators.



Today's world is a dangerous one, best to be prepared for the worst case scenario.

luckily for me, I seldom have to leave my fortress, I mean home. I have a number of carry guns, including a Kimber micro 9. I am thinking about getting a shoulder holster for one of my 1911s that would lend its self to carry. Its a straight up GI Tanker model.

Ah the memories of a plain Jane government, not tanker, that I used and carried for a few years.

We've strayed far off topic, but:

"Simple and very effective", my Kimber Super Carry Ultra Plus (the "plus" is the 8-round grip frame with a 3" bbl). Not 'plain Jane', but a marriage of all the good stuff a 1911 could possibly have into a superlative carry package.



All the excellent attributes of the venerable 1911, but with a bobtail grip, tritium night sights, ambi-safety, very concealable 3" barrel and 9-round capacity of .45ACP. I'm very fond of my 5" and 4"/Commander size 1911's, but this puppy hits all the marks in terms of accuracy, concealability and power. IMHO, it's one of the very best CC pistols to ever come down the pike.

And it carries nicely in my Milt Sparks VM-2 IWB rig for carry that does not print even under an un-tucked t-shirt:



There are many choices for EDC, but for the last 60 years in both combat and civilian carry, a 1911 has been my daily companion. This iteration of the 1911 has become my all-time favorite.
