Ruger Hawkeye Predator .204 (~$1100) or Savage 110 Predator .204 (~$850)?

Thanks for the info. Will definitely keep the PT&G reamer in mind.

Yer kinda freaking me out. That's exactly what I have in mind for when my barrel toasts. It'll be awhile but that's the plan.
Good choice.

The silly 3.44 screw spacing, not much in the way of aftermarket stocks or chassis. Mine is soon to be a 4.41, back hole is there but not tapped, plenty of room for the front one.

Picked up a new Model 12 LRPV yesterday. Realize it was test fired at the factory, but didn't expect it to be this dirty.
Bolt body/handle are fine, but bolt face had considerable amount of carbon.
Front bolt baffle pretty discolored. (Don't think this was from test firing...)
Carbon ring and bore pretty dirty, too.
Bore Tech carbon remover doing a pretty good job of cleaning up the bolt face. Haven't tried to clean the bore yet - need to get a bore guide.

I didn't mention this, but CLR will remove the carbon ring. Don't ever publicly announce that you used it. It will void some manufacturers warranties. Never known it to do any damage to my rifles. Gotta let it soak!!

In regard to using CLR for the removal of carbon, there are many opinions on using this on rifles, especially on stainless steel. Here's a link to a number of posts over on Accurate Shooter in regard to CLR many may find informative and interesting:

I personally do not use it, as my cleaning methods do not include this chemical, so I do not have an opinion, just sharing information.

The ruger i like it. Have u looked at the TC Venture 204 ruger predator model. A flutted 22 inch 1@10 twist barrel. I seen one on gunbroker 2 days ago. I almost bought it. But i just bought a new Browning Xbolt Speed Long Range 280AI rifle.
