cz 527 feeding problem

Post by jrwoitalla »

My new CZ 527 Varmint 204 shoots great...I'm getting sub moa groups at 200 yds. I have a problem with it feeding from the magazine. My buddy has the same gun in 221 Fireball and has the same problem. We both load our own ammo. The cartridges just jam up in the magazine, the bolt cant get them out and at the right angle to be chambered. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 427 American in 17 hummer and have the same problem. I found out that if you put a little down pressure on the bolt when pushing forward, that causes my feeding issues. The cure for my CZ, is to push the bolt forward with your thumb, so you don't exert downward pressure on the bolt. Give this a try. Personally I really don't like the clip set up in the CZ's. I will never buy another CZ, just because of the feeding issues, and the clip set up. :wall: If you do a search on this site you will find numerous similar issues with the CZ's.

My CZ is no where near as smooth as my Remington's and Ruger but it does function normally.

Thanks for the thumb pushing suggestion. I was given the same advice at the range today and it works beautifully. Wish I didn't have to do it that way, but oh-well. The gun shoots great(under an inch with 5 shot groups @ 200yds) and now it feeds decently too. The load I'm going to use now for my go to squirrel load, zeroed @200yds will be- Sierra 39gr BlitzKings, Wrenchbrester brass neck sized only using Lee dies, #71/2 primers, 28.5gr of RL15 powder, and a COAL of 2.300".

It might help to load your magazines and leave them loaded for awhile. The magazine springs are pretty stiff in the 527s, and that helped with both of mine.
