I was fortunate enough to score on this gobbler Saturday morning. I coaxed him and two buddies out of a field with a few purrs on the hand-made slate call that is also in the picture. A dear friend commissioned that call for me as a gift and this was the first time I used it to harvest a bird, so I wanted to be sure the call was in my pictures. The call sounds every bit as good as it looks, as those three gobblers showed. I had to wait a bit for the birds to spread apart enough for one to offer a clear shot. This guy was the lucky winner.

Me too. Lord knows how many of them I blow, so it's very sweet when I manage not to screw one up.
