My first gobbler

Post by savageboy23 »

Today I shot my first Turkey. A good friend of mine is an avid turkey hunter and has been encouraging me to purchase a Turkey license for the past 2 years. Finally this year I took his advice. He told me that he would come sit with me and call for me.

This morning was the opening day of my week long season. I hunt at my grandparents farm in central minnesota He was unable to come hunt this morning so my brother and I set out to sit in the blind for awhile. Saw 8 birds mostly being mostly hens. The neighboring farmer had started plowing his field mid morning so we called it quits.

My buddy was able to join me for the afternoon so we set out around 2:30 pm. Get into the blind and get all situated, he starts calling. Calls for awhile and the next thing we know 7 Jakes appear from behind us. I picked my bird and took him. We were in the blind no more then 30 min. I love it when a plan comes together.
