This what this rifle looks like. Savage 110 with med varmint barrel 23 inch CM, In a Boyd's stock and a trusty old Weaver 10 power with fine crosshairs and 1/8 dot. Very accurate rifle with the load I have for it. Still shooting the Nosler 32 grain LF tipped.

Re: 2024 Small Caliber Five Shot Challenge
Doing fine here Skipper. Have my special handloads all set to shoot. Using my 20 Tac this time. Hope to make a range trip in about a week or less, if the weather holds warm and very little or no wind, one late afternoon at my club range.

Re: 2024 Small Caliber Five Shot Challenge
Hi Skipper. I just got back from the north woods "sticks" and got connected to the inter web. The target looks like it's worthy of competition, even with the rat distraction
Now it's time for me to get to the range on a windless day & punch some holes. I do like the idea of sending you our targets via PM! That way I only have to bare the shame of my shooting skills after the target is officially scored
Shoot straight & often.

I could be a nice guy and only post what appears to be the top three or four.
That way no-one gets embarrassed.
My own personal PM outbox wouldn't let me post attachments. So I found the way fix that issue on the admin site. Yours should work also, for sending me your targets.

Skipper, if I understand correctly, we score our targets and show the group size and send you a photo of said target. Will you also double check and score the target ? As for me, no matter where I place among the shooters submitting a target, put it in the scoreboard to be seen by members.
That would not bother me at all and I can compare where I did come in, in the lineup.

Re: 2024 Small Caliber Five Shot Challenge
The concept is that everyone scores ALL the targets. I post them and then everyone gets to do their own assessment of All the targets. I think the winner will be revealed by that process. You are welcome to measure your own target, if that's what you want to do. However you will also get to measure the other targets and post on your results. IF it comes down to a Close Call, I will measure the holes, center to center, and post my findings. I don't think that will be necessary though. I have scored targets for a long time and the WINNER'S group has always been apparent.
We just need to remember that there may be targets of various small calibers submitted. That is why it becomes so important to measure the shot holes center to center. The On Target application allows you to change the caliber of the measurement circle so it is approximately the same size as the shot hole.

If this new method works, like I believe it will, we'll have a method of holding our annual shoot without someone having to rent a post office box, stuffing envelopes and all the other things that make it a pain in the @$$. If you want to participate just print out a target, post it when finished and the members decide the winner.

Alas, I just haven't been able to shake the feeling that I would be infringing on these competitions due to orchestrating them. I don't want to be the bone of contention here. Now, after this competition is over and someone else takes the reins, I would be more than happy to join in on the fun. Besides, you're going to have your hands full with the other entry I saw.
I might shoot a target, just for fun, after the competition ends and post the results. I'm not by any means the best shot in the world, but I love to shoot and spend a lot of time at the range.

Re: 2024 Small Caliber Five Shot Challenge
That is fine Skipper. But I will still add that it not bother or worry me one bit, if you presented a target in the fun.
That sounds interesting about having my hands full. I guess I will just wait now and see the scores, when you post them. Very interesting.

Re: 2024 Small Caliber Five Shot Challenge
I'm thinking there is at least 4 targets in the competition as I sent mine in yesterday. I don't think I set the competition "on fire", but I don't think the target looks too terrible considering it was shot by an old man using a bone stock Savage model 12 FV!
Shoot straight & often.

Very good, now if more will add to the fun and game. It will become even more interesting.
Win, loose or draw, fun for all.
