Awesome, this will be fun! Im using a CZ 527 American with a Vortex Diamondback HP 3x12x42. As far as loads go, so far i am undecided on bullets, i got some nice groups with Sierra Blitzking 32's, i have some vmax 32's but the Sierras shot better, but now i bought some Nosler 32's that i need to work with yet. I originally bought IMR4895 powder, then switched to CFE223 and that worked better. But now i got some H4895 that i need to try. I have alot of loads i want to try, but not alot of time to do it lol good luck all!

Oh, and i have some Sierra Blitzking 39's ordered, i heard they were the absolute best shooting bullets for the .204 Ruger. I just hope that my 1:12 twist will stabilize them...

218bee. I will be surprised if you are not very pleasantly surprised how the 39 grain BK's work. Bill K

39s SBKs stabilize well in most 204 Rifles. Now from 40gr and above it's a crap shoot. 45 grain bullets will probably not stabilize in a 1:12 twist. At least that what history has revealed. I, for one, am sold on the 35 gr Berger flat base bullets and Benchmark powder. The best groups my Stolle Panda action, Lilja barrel, Jewell trigger, Shehane Tracker custom build has ever shot. This is my ticket to success. Too bad, I won't be entering this competition.

I appreciate the invitation BUT it might seem a conflict of interest. I'd be glad to post a target though.

Speaking of targets, I mailed out 42 targets today. That's pretty good! Seems like people are interested in competition. Or maybe its just the fun aspect??

Very fortunate to have wandered back to the forum when I did to find out about this challenge. As the saying goes, I'll give it a shot, well in this case 5 shots!

Great to hear, i did hear that the 40's and above were pretty much out of the question for my gun but i heard that sierra left that 1 grain off for a reason. i have only shot flat based bullets so far, but the noslers i just bought are boat-tailed, guna get some of those flying before my target gets here so i know what to use for the challenge. i will either be using the CFE223 powder or H4895. i still need to decide on winchester or cci primers too, i have both. i am kind of limited on brass though, i only have hornady brass. Actually, i do have 200 fired fiocchi cases but read that unless i wanted to buy more decapping pins, i should scrap them as i would run into the random occassional off-center flash hole, so ill stick to the hornady...

I too see no problem with Skipper participating in this event since it is just a friendly, gentleman's competition.

Oh my! I wish I'd seen this post before. I'll PM the information to get a target, but we're in the process of moving and I'm not sure at all whether I'll have the chance to get out and shoot before 9/1. I'll certainly try. Anyway, here are a couple thoughts on the topic.
1) When we talk about categories or classes, I'd enjoy seeing one for hunting positions and let the shooter choose whether it's to be offhand, sitting, or prone (without external supports, such as shooting sticks, bags, and bi-pods). From a bench I doubt I'd do very well compared to others, but I'm relatively good from prone.
2) Regarding the 40+ grain bullets, I know the discussion has been about custom loads, but my factory 527 Varmint shoots the 45 grain Hornady factory loads just as well as the 32s (and I don't get splash shots on coyotes at the closer ranges). I don't know how this would translate to a custom load. I just thought I'd toss it out there.

Here is a shot of the targets. A shot of NOT a shot at. Yours may have a different colored smiley face depending on the order I registered you. :D IF, you have recently registered as a New Member, you will still need to PM me in order to register for the 5 Shot Challenge. I will post a list of registered shooters soon so you can see if I got you or not. HAVE FUN!!!

I would bet that if we had a poll of the shooters, the majority would also agree that Skipper should shoot. It is a honor shoot among those that enter and I really see no conflict of interest, rearing it's head, among us. Bill K :)
