204um Praire Dog Postal Shoot

Post by WrzWaldo »

I'm going to advertise now.

If you know for certain you will shoot this one you can PM me your target requests any time, if you're not sure then please hold off until you are reasonably sure you will shoot and return your targets (thanks). Please put "Postal Shoot" in the subject of the PM (thanks again)!

I will send out targets the last week of February and returned targets must be postmarked on or before May 1st! I will accept target requests until the 14th of April.

Classes and rules will be the same (with some tweaking to the scoring), however this may be the last go for a separate "Black Rifle" class.

I have a few minor details to finish for the target. You can see it here. This is not the actual size. The target will only have the pdog, no other guides/markings. You don't get to put grids/bulls/etc. on them in the field and this will be part of the challenge.

You will be able to shoot it at 100 or 200 yards. I will have the scoring details finished before the shoot begins.

Some of my preliminary thoughts on scoring.

Three groups of 5 shots each.

1 = The flip group

2= The drop group

and

3 = The chop group

Again it will be based on group size (small group), the "Flip" group will be a weighted group (factor/s to be determined).

also can we shoot same class differant yardage with two separate rifles
If not for my forgetful nature remembering things would be no problem at all.

Yes, as long as they are chambered in 204 Ruger.

The weighted group.

The colored areas will not be on the target you shoot. I will have a master score target with the colors, I'll lay the shot target over the master to get the weighted score.

Is there any thought to holding the Postal Shoot in the July to August time frame? April and May are usually excessively wet and windy.

Let's do both...... :wink:

There's a downside to every season, depending on location. Needless to say, summer time is HOT and HUMID down here in bayou country!

WrzWaldo: thanks again for all your great work for the forum....

I'm in for the PD shoot with a HDR and Savage 12VLP.

I'm sure the Black Rifle class will show up this shoot.

Thanks for starting the Postal PD shoot.

Okay, now, how are you going to keep the prairie dogs still long enough to get scoring rings on 'em, and how's the USPS gonna feel about you mailing prairie dogs thru their sorting machines? :lol: :lol: :lol: Won't the rats get squished in those sorting machines?

I'll take several breeding pairs, by the way, I wanta get them started on Valhalla Golf Course before the Ryder's Cup there next September. It's my duty :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

I wouldn`t mind a go at the praire dog shoot,if your willing to send the targets to Wales(i dont mind paying the postage).Have never shot in any sort of a competition before so could be a lot of fun.
Also would give me an excuse to work on some reloads,and thats never a bad thing.
I only have to be lucky once,

Question, can we put all three groups in the Flip zone and take advantage of the adjusted group measurements?
