I installed a McGowen .204 barrel on a buddy's LRPV. We've had great results with Northlander's Shilen pre-fits but he was out of the Shilen.
The McGowen looked great, broke in quickly and shoots as well as the Shilens. We just returned from our second South Dakota shoot and he said it cleaned up just fine so all is well. HTH's

I have another question for clarification. I plan to shoot two rifles, one a stock Savage Bolt Action and the other an AR...

My question revolves around the AR... It is a standard configuration, but the upper was built by a custom builder, before factory .204s were available. Is the AR classified as Custom or Stock??

Thanks, PM sent..

Hi Bill. This is from the rules on page 1 of this thread.
Black Rifle is a "run what ya brung" semi-auto class. Any components, any ammo.

I forgot to mention in the opening post that there was a change to the classes.

Factory Rifle / Factory Ammo is gone.

If you are wanting to shoot the factory class but are concerned about being competitive, don't be.

Skipper has put some good information on shooting factory ammo in this topic --> http://www.rugerhunting.com/forum/viewt ... f=2&t=3647 (Thanks Skipper!)

I have shot many sub .5 groups with Hornady 32 V-Max factory loads (unsorted right out of the box).
